Old meets new

Barcelona is a city of many contrasts and the ultramodern clashes with the ancient at every turn. Las Ramblas is Barcelona's main thoroughfare and perhaps one of the most famous streets in the world. It is a good place to start exploring from because it’s in the centre of the city and transport links are plentiful. There are several metro stations nearby. The metro is probably the best way to get about for a tourist as it is cheap and reliable. You can also head into the gothic quarter, just a few minutes away from Las Ramblas and spend an exciting afternoon exploring cobbled alleys and sun-dappled squares, with bars serving sangria and tapas.

When you've had your fill of culture, get the metro to Barceloneta and walk a short distance to the beach. The marina is beautiful and there are many restaurants and bars in the area, mainly specialising in freshly caught seafood. It’s the perfect way to spend a relaxing evening after a long day sightseeing.

Stunning architecture and rich culture

One of the most famous attractions in Barcelona is the Sagrada Familia, a stunning, ornate cathedral designed by one of Spain's most famous sons – Antoni Gaudi. Construction started in 1882 and is ongoing. Sections are constantly being added and you can pay a small admission fee - which goes towards the building fund - and explore. Spend time in quiet contemplation in the stained glass chapel or go up the towers for a bird's eye view of Barcelona.

If you want to do something more relaxing, get a cable car from near the Barceloneta metro station up to Montjuïc. Montjuïc consists of gardens laid out over the hillside, with resting points and tapas bars interspersed around the place. Take a day trip to Montserrat to escape from the busy city. A stunning medieval monastery set into mountains around an hour outside Barcelona, Montserrat is worth booking a guided tour as they will take you directly there by bus and tour guides generally speak English.

Book a sun soaked trip to Barcelona today and take advantage of our special prices and access to luxury hotels. Visit Barcelona for the holiday you’ll never forget, full of rich culture, a vibrant atmosphere and delicious tapas!

A stunning hotel in a beautiful location. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a premier room with a huge balcony and spectacular views across Barcelona. The only comment is that the spa area is a little tired. Exceptional value for money.

General situation and kindness of reception. At no time did we feel like "second-rate customers" as can happen for third-party bookings. The room had an unobstructed view of the port of Barcelona. The weather was of the party which does not spoil anything.
