Your Destinations —
Madrid
The historic capital of Spain oozes with culture, cuisine, and a decidedly cosmopolitan atmosphere. The Gran Vía is the place to experience the city’s modern vibes - this thoroughfare connects the two halves of the city and offers exciting shops, lively nightlife, cinemas and theatres.
After soaking up the city’s bustling streets, escape to the Museo del Prado, where you can admire the works of famous Spanish artists including Goya, El Greco, da Ribera, and Velázquez. Along with the nearby Reina Sofia Museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, this forms Madrid’s Golden Triangle of Art. In between art visits, see the Real Jardín Botánico, an 8-hectare botanical garden founded by King Ferdinand VI.
A trip to Madrid wouldn’t be complete without tasting some of the city’s fantastic food, and the vibrant thoroughfare of Calle Cava Baja is the perfect place to try Madrid’s best tapas. Alternatively, experience Mercado de San Miguel, a beautiful market filled with food stalls and wine bars that comes alive after work hours.
Toledo
Escape the hustle and bustle and make your way to bright and beautiful Toledo. Travel through time contemplating the Alcázar, the Cathedral, the El Greco Museum, the Sephardic Museum, the Puerta de Bisagra, the Puerta de Bab-al-Mardum, or the Mirador del Valle, among many innumerable beauties. Known as the Imperial City, Toledo has been the Gastronomic Capital of 2016. Don't miss a chance to try its most traditional dishes.
Toledo is a World Heritage City by UNESCO. This walled city is where Cervantes justifies the creation of his work. And, as related in his novel, was in the old neighborhood of the Alcaná Toledo, where Cervantes narrated the adventures of Don Quixote.
Segovia
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the terracotta walled city of Segovia sits in the rolling hills of Castilla, near the northern slopes of the Sistema Central mountain range.
The city is known for its impressive Roman aqueduct, measuring over 894m, and gorgeous Gothic cathedral located on Plaza Mayor. Sip on a coffee from a café in the shady plaza, before strolling on to see the pretty Plaza de San Martín, and the unusual twelve-sided church, Iglesia de Vera Cruz.
The most iconic sight in Segovia is undoubtedly the fairytale castle that is said to have inspired Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. Crowned by turreted towers, and surrounded by a deep moat, get ready to imagine your own ‘happily ever after’!
