Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will complete immigration formalities and collect your luggage. An airport representative holding a recognizable sign will greet you in the arrivals hall. Here, you'll meet your guide, who will accompany you throughout your journey from day 1 to day 6.
You will then be transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. Once you arrive, you'll settle into your accommodations and have time to relax.
Overnight stay at the hotel in Sigiriya.
Day 2: Sigiriya
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, prepare for an exciting visit to Mount Ritigala, accompanied by your driver guide.
Ritigala, a mountain in central Sri Lanka, is home to an ancient Buddhist monastery. The ruins and rock inscriptions date back to the 1st century BC. Located 43 kilometers from the historic monastic town of Anuradhapura, Ritigala stands taller than other prominent attractions in the central and northern plains, such as Sigiriya, Dambulla, and Mihintale. Its significance lies in its steep verticality, forested slopes, and the humid microclimate at the summit. Ritigala is a remarkable cultural and eco-tourism site, with seventy rock caves believed to have been inhabited since the 1st century BC.
The main trail takes about an hour and a half to complete, but keep an eye out for smaller side paths leading to hospices, intriguing rock formations, and diverse wildlife.
If you're interested in a jeep safari in Minneriya, inform your driver-guide and pay a supplement. He will arrange the safari, which lasts approximately three hours. Be ready at the national park entrance by 2:30 PM.
Alternatively, you can return to the hotel to relax after lunch.
Overnight stay at the hotel in Sigiriya.
Day 3: Sigiriya
Day 4 & 5
Day 4: Sigiriya to Kandy
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and head towards Kandy.
On the way, you'll visit the Ayurvedic village of Matale. Historically, Sri Lanka, known as Taprobane, was renowned for its high-quality spices. Note that while spices are available for purchase on-site, there is no obligation to buy. Only purchase if you wish and feel free to politely decline if not.
Next, visit Nalanda Gedige, an ancient stone temple near Matale. Thought to be the geographical center of Sri Lanka, this temple was constructed between the 8th and 10th centuries. Nalanda Gedige is modeled on a Hindu temple with a mandapa, an entrance hall, a short passage to a bare cell, and a gallery around the sacred center. This Buddhist temple, featuring intriguing Tantric Buddhist sculptures, combines Hindu architectural styles with Buddhist motifs. Located one kilometer east of the A9 road, 20 km north of Aluvihare, Nalanda Gedige is a serene spot halfway between Kandy and Dambulla and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 5: Kandy (150 km / 4-5 hours)

Ambuluwawa Tower: Ambuluwawa Temple offers a unique experience with breathtaking views from its remarkable tower. Visitors should exercise caution, as the climb to the top can be challenging due to low railings, narrow stairs, and potential crowds. The summit of Ambuluwawa Mountain is 3,567 meters above sea level, and the tower itself rises 54 meters from its base to the top of the spiral.
Visit a Tea Plantation and Factory: Sri Lanka is renowned for its world-famous Ceylon tea, celebrated for its fine, rich flavor and brilliant golden color. This tour provides insight into the art of growing and producing this beloved beverage, including the opportunity to pick your own tea.

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Udawattekele protected area with your driver-guide.

After exploring Udawattekele, you'll depart the hotel and drive to Colombo.
Colombo City Tour: Colombo, Sri Lanka's largest city, is located on the west coast and is a melting pot of cultures and religions. Early traders and settlers left a unique blend of influences. During your city tour, you can visit the Gangaramaya Temple, the historic Wolfendhal Church, the Colombo Museum (if open and weather permitting), and other notable sights.
