Your Suggested Itinerary —
On your Fly Drive, you will be accommodated in or near the following destinations. The details below will give you an idea of some of the National Parks and cities you can visit during your stay.
Please Note: Thanks to the benefit of your included car hire, you will be able to travel to many other parks and cities during your stay if you so wish.
Home to everything from unrivalled natural beauty and world-class attractions to major sports teams and a thriving arts and culture scene, guests can look forward to an action-packed break in Seattle. We highly recommend paying a visit to Port Angeles on your way to Forks, stopping off in the Lake Crescent Area, where you can enjoy the history of downtown, alongside a vibrant music scene. Your included CityPASS will ensure you fit in all the top attractions, but in addition, be sure to try out tidepooling, kayaking, hiking and potential whale watching (seasonal) during your 3-night stay.
Discover the natural wonders and cultural attractions of the state of Washington, one of the greenest and most unspoiled areas in the United States. In Forks, you will be transported to the world of the Twilight book and film saga, famous across the world as the beautiful home of vampires and werewolves. Here, you can visit the Woods Museum in Forks, discovering how the woodsmen of the past lived and seeing their tools of the trade. Nature lovers will be in their element, as Forks enjoys a close proximity to the beaches of the Pacific, along with the Hoh Rain Forest, one of the largest temperate rainforests in the United States.
Your next stop will be Ocean Shores, characterised by more than 10 km of public beach, where families can build sandcastles, search for clams and fly kites high in the sky. Here, you can explore the beaches from the back of a horse, on a motorcycle, by bike or simply on a romantic walk. At the beginning of spring, the most fortunate of guests may even gather a glimpse of grey whales spraying and splashing just offshore. In the evenings, entertainment in Ocean Shores is easy to find. Test out golf courses, glass blower workshops and small do-it-yourself jewellery workshops. Take advantage of a trip from Ocean Shores to the Olympic National Park, which is home to the only temperate rainforest in North America and which, due to its unique shape, has developed a unique set of plants and animals that can not be found in any another place. The Lake of Quinault is also just a 40-mile drive from Ocean Shores.
Situated against the backdrop of the majestic Mount Hood, Portland, also known as the "Rose City", combines a sophisticated and cosmopolitan atmosphere with the cosy warmth of a small homely town. Surrounded by nature, we recommend taking trips to local vineyards, to the famous Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood itself. First time travellers to Portland should also be sure to test out the local wine tasting and craft breweries - a true highlight of the city!
On the way to Yakima, you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful Columbia River and its breathtaking gorges. The Yakima Valley is the main reason why craft beer, wine and cider from the Pacific Northwest are famous throughout the United States. The valley produces more than 75% of the national hops, grows almost half of the wine grapes of the State of Washington and collects more apples than anywhere else in the northwest. What makes this place unique is the opportunity to sip excellent homemade craft drinks among the fields, vineyards and orchards where the ingredients were actually grown. No matter how you decide to explore the Yakima Valley, you’re bound to find a pleasant mix of perfect weather, delightful craft beverages, farm fresh produce and outdoor adventure. Yakima is also an excellent base for ascending Mount Rainier National Park, home to the iconic active volcano and the highest peak on the northwest coast.
Standing 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier is an icon in the Washington landscape - no trip to the state is complete without a visit here. An active volcano, visitors to the mountain will discover a natural wonderland like no other. Spawning 6 major rivers, wildflowers and powerful waterfalls, alongside epic skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing opportunities in winter, Mount Rainier is a must-see natural phenomenon for you to enjoy during your tour.
