Discover Majorca

Set off on an unforgettable discovery of Majorca with this thoughtfully curated 6-day, 5-night itinerary.

Suggested 5-night itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paguera, a first breath of the Mediterranean

Touching down in Palma, head straight towards the island’s south-west coast. In less than thirty minutes, pine forests and ochre cliffs signal a quieter, more preserved side of Majorca. Settle into your adult-only retreat, the Valentin Reina Paguera, overlooking the turquoise waters of one of the island’s most sheltered bays. Leave your bags and make your way down to Paguera’s beaches, Platja Gran, Palmira and Torà, three golden coves nestled between pine-covered hills, where the water is remarkably calm and clear. As the afternoon softens, wander along the seafront promenade, pause for a first sangria on a shaded terrace, and let the rhythm of the island settle in gently. Dinner at your resort, accompanied by the quiet murmur of the waves nearby.

Day 2: Freedom Experience, Essential Palma (roadbook included)

Set off east for a scenic thirty-minute drive to Palma de Mallorca, the island’s baroque capital and a jewel of Gothic architecture. With your detailed roadbook included, explore entirely at your own pace. Begin with the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, a thirteenth-century masterpiece rising above the bay, its eighty-three stained glass windows and seven rose windows casting an enchanting light within. Just behind, the Arab Baths reveal the quiet remnants of the Moorish era, set within a peaceful, shaded garden. Continue through the old town’s narrow streets, lined with golden stone palaces and cool, shaded courtyards. Pause in a storied café for an ensaïmada or coca de patata with a strong coffee, a simple and deeply local pleasure. Enjoy lunch overlooking the bay before making your way back to Paguera in the late afternoon, in time to watch the sun dip from your balcony.

Day 3: The Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO landscape

From Paguera, the Serra de Tramuntana unfolds within twenty minutes, one of the great privileges of your location. Take the northern route via Andratx, an authentic mountain village set away from the crowds, with its medieval fortifications, local market and café terraces. Continue towards Banyalbufar, suspended above the Mediterranean, where centuries-old agricultural terraces cascade down the mountainside, offering sweeping views. Take time to taste a glass of Malvasia, the region’s rare local wine, in one of the village bodegas. Carry on to Valldemossa, perched at four hundred metres among orange groves and ancient olive trees, and lose yourself in its cobbled streets around the historic Charterhouse. End your route in Sóller, the town of orange trees, where a century-old wooden tram still links the centre to its peaceful harbour, inviting a final stroll by the sea before returning to Paguera.

Day 4: Cap de Formentor, at the edge of the island

Rise early for a day shaped by wild landscapes. Head north towards Cap de Formentor, the island’s most dramatic and untamed tip. Arrive early to avoid summer access restrictions and follow the winding road that threads between sheer cliffs and turquoise sea, leading to the iconic Formentor Lighthouse, perched high above the water, where the sense of distance is complete. Stop at the breathtaking Mirador Es Colomer for sweeping views over cliffs plunging into the Mediterranean. Continue down to Formentor Beach, one of the island’s most beautiful stretches of sand, backed by fragrant pine forest, for a swim in crystal-clear water. In the early afternoon, reach Port de Pollença for lunch by the marina, a walk along its palm-lined promenade and a final coffee before heading back south. Return to your hotel in time to enjoy the pool as the light fades.

Day 5: Freedom Experience, Dragonera and Sant Elm (roadbook and kayak included)

Just twenty minutes from your hotel, one of Majorca’s most striking natural escapes awaits. From the small port of Sant Elm, take a boat across to Sa Dragonera Natural Park, a protected island of raw, unspoilt beauty. Set out on foot along its wild trails to discover a unique ecosystem, from large lizards to seabirds and birds of prey, with far-reaching views back towards the Majorcan coastline. Back on the mainland, take to the water by kayak along the Sant Elm coast, gliding past hidden coves and luminous waters, with the silhouette of Dragonera always in view, a quiet and memorable experience to share. End the day wandering through the village and along the shoreline of Sant Elm before returning to your hotel for a final dinner facing the Mediterranean.

Day 6: Final moments in Paguera and departure

Wake slowly in your adult-only retreat. Spend your last morning by the pool or on the beaches of Paguera, enjoying the softness of the setting a little longer. Take time to gather a few final keepsakes, olive oil from the Tramuntana, wines from Banyalbufar, handmade ceramics or sobrassada, the island’s emblematic delicacy. Then make your way back to Palma airport, leaving with a mind full of wild panoramas, turquoise waters and sunlit stone streets.

The Essential Palma roadbook, along with the Dragonera and Sant Elm roadbook and kayak experience, are included in your package and available from your arrival at the hotel.

This itinerary is a suggested guide based on a five-night stay. If you choose a different duration, it can be adapted to suit your pace and preferences.

Activities mentioned, such as the Sóller tram or catamaran excursions, are suggestions and are not included unless otherwise stated.

Valentin Reina Paguera 4*

Valentin Reina Paguera 4* stands above Playa Palmira on Mallorca’s southwest coast, where the Mediterranean stretches wide and steady beyond palm-lined terraces. An adults-only retreat (18+) shaped by sea air, softened light and the steady rhythm of the shoreline, the setting carries a calm, measured elegance from the moment of arrival.  The scent of salt drifts through open spaces, while evenings unfold slowly with sea views and a sense of quiet indulgence that defines the island’s southern shore.

From the hotel, Paguera unfolds into a relaxed seaside world where Platja Gran, Palmira and Torà form sheltered coves of white sand and clear water. The promenade leads past cafés, soft evening light and easy coastal life, while inland the Serra de Tramuntana rises in textured layers of stone and pine. A short drive brings Palma’s old quarter, where stone streets, markets and café terraces reveal Majorca’s living heritage.

Majorca

Majorca, the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, balances cosmopolitan energy with Mediterranean tranquillity. From the golden coves of the east to the rugged peaks of the Tramuntana mountains, it’s an island of contrasts - where olive groves meet turquoise waters, and traditional villages share space with vibrant coastal towns.

Must-sees:

  • Palma de Majorca: The island’s stylish capital, crowned by the Gothic La Seu Cathedral and buzzing with art galleries, cafés and harbourfront promenades.
  • Serra de Tramuntana: A UNESCO World Heritage mountain range, ideal for scenic drives, hiking and charming villages such as Valldemossa and Deià.
  • Alcúdia Old Town: Enclosed by medieval walls, its cobbled streets and nearby Playa d’Alcúdia offer the perfect mix of heritage and beachside calm.
  • Cala Figuera and Caló des Moro: Hidden coves with crystalline waters, ideal for swimming and photography.

Culinary culture:

Majorca’s gastronomy captures the island’s soul. Sample sobrasada, a soft cured sausage flavoured with paprika, or ensaimada, the island’s signature spiral pastry. Fresh seafood and olive oil feature prominently, while inland, rustic taverns serve hearty tumbet, a Majorcan version of ratatouille. Pair your meal with a glass of local Binissalem wine and end with almond ice cream made from the island’s own orchards.

Dive deeper:

Discover Majorca beyond the beach. Cycle through the Tramuntana mountains, explore olive mills and vineyards, or visit the artist’s house of Robert Graves in Deià. The Caves of Drach reveal underground lakes and natural concerts, while the markets of Sineu and Santa Maria del Camí bring local life to the fore. As the day fades, head to Cap de Formentor to watch the sun sink into the Mediterranean — a sight that defines the island’s magic.

Good to know:

Majorca is about 2.5 hours by flight from most major European cities, with Palma de Majorca Airport just 10 km from the capital. The best time to visit is from April to October, when the sea is warm and the island at its most vibrant. The local currency is the euro (EUR).
