Playitas Resort is one of the largest training centres in Europe where top international athletes in many sports and disciplines come, to prepare for the world’s most important sports events, including the 2016 Rio Olympics, for which the resort was an official training base of the Swedish Olympic team.
Guests can take part in a range of daily sporting activities including Yoga, Aqua Aerobics or boot camps, or explore the great outdoors with onsite bike rental and nearby hiking routes.
At the hotel, there is also a large outdoor swimming pool with ocean views as well as an eight-lane, 50m Olympic pool within the resort. Take advantage of the spa, multi-purpose sports courts, running track, sports studios, fitness centre, an outdoor gym, and an 18-hole golf course with PGA Golf Academy, all within Playitas Resort.

The hotel boasts a heated outdoor swimming pool, open throughout the year. With towel service and the Palapa Bar handy, lay out on the sun loungers for some peace and quiet. At the resort, there is an eight-lane, 50m Olympic pool, which features top of the range technology and all the necessary equipment for outdoor training and professional competitions throughout the year.
A true oasis completely dedicated to wellness at the Playitas Resort, the TAU Spa allows you to immerse yourself in pure relaxation. Discover the revitalising power of water and try our range of sports treatments and body, facial and beauty treatments. Facilities include Turkish Bath, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Cold Water Pool, Relaxation Room and Massage services.
The Playitas Resort gym has an area of more than 700 square metres and is free of charge for guests. Train in the Express zone, Cardio zone, free weigh zone or hire a personal trainer.
Tennis
There are 5 floodlit tennis courts at the resort: three are artificial grass and quartz sand, and two are hard courts.
In 2013, this tennis court was converted into a combat and fitness centre. An enormous canvas cover over the court was installed, so guests could have a place to do sport out of the sun but with plenty of fresh air. Activities such as wrestling, boxing, fitness and martial arts are held on this court every day.
The multipurpose court, also known as MC1, is close to the Olympic pool and just a few metres from the beach. On this court, you can do a variety of sports, such as Pilates, step, basketball and football.
Indoor Sports Hall
For indoor sports enthusiasts, Playitas Resort boasts a state of the art facility with an electronic scoreboard for sports such as handball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, uni-hockey (floorball) and futsal. The indoor facility’s used by the top European league teams, national teams and Olympic teams.
Designed by popular Scottish golf course architect John Chilver-Stainer, this 18-hole golf course was built to satisfy all levels of play. The course is beautifully contoured, following the natural hills and valleys in contrast with the rugged surroundings. From nearly every hole you can enjoy the volcanic mountains and Atlantic views. If you’d like to improve your swing or any other shot, get some lessons at the PGA Golf Academy, taught by a PGA professional.
Playitas Resort has been voted one of Europe’s top triathlon training centres by professional triathletes, coaches and specialised publications, and it’s where the triathlon elite prepare for the season.
Cycling
The main advantages of training in Fuerteventura include the ideal cycling conditions due to the minimal traffic and well-kept roads. Cycle routes vary from 2-6 hours and 50-160 kilometres, with altitude differences of 600-1600 metres.
