Hotel Taimar 4* is a modern, quiet and intimate hotel with spacious rooms just a stone’s throw from the beach and close to the incredible lagoons of Sotavento. A must-visit for lovers of crystal-clear waters.
I was lucky enough to explore one of the island’s most spectacular spots: Cofete, travelling by 4x4 to Punta de Jandía – it was a dream. I absolutely loved the boat trip, where I got to see dolphins and whales with a truly top-notch crew.

Day 1 – Arrival & First impressions of Costa Calma

Day 2 – Beaches, sunshine and water sports
This day is entirely dedicated to relaxation and exploring the coastline. In the morning, head to Costa Calma beach, just 800 metres from the hotel, with its crystal-clear waters and fine sand typical of the Canary Islands. It’s the perfect spot for a refreshing first swim. In the afternoon, you can opt for water sports such as snorkelling or a beginner’s surfing lesson, available directly from the beach. For those who love shopping and local culture, a visit to the African Market is a great way to pick up some authentic souvenirs. Day 3 – 4x4 Adventure Excursion
Today, it’s all about adrenaline and wide-open spaces! You’re setting off on a full-day jeep safari through the wild and varied landscapes of Fuerteventura. The tour departs from Costa Calma, and your professional guide will take you along off-road tracks through the south of the island, past dry riverbeds, volcanic landscapes and golden dunes. The route includes stops at secluded, unspoilt beaches, such as Playa de Ugan, as well as panoramic viewpoints overlooking the majestic Jandía Peninsula. Throughout the day, your guide will share the history and geological secrets of this island, designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The return is scheduled for late afternoon, leaving you time to relax by the pool before a well-deserved dinner.
Day 4 – Morro Jable and the wild beaches of Jandía
On this fourth day, head to Morro Jable, the charming fishing village situated about twenty minutes south of Costa Calma. The old town, with its colourful narrow streets and terraces overlooking the harbour, is well worth a pleasant morning stroll. On the way, you can drive along the unspoilt beaches of the Jandía Peninsula, renowned as some of the most beautiful in the Canary Islands, with their turquoise waters and unrivalled laid-back atmosphere. In the afternoon, for a different experience, you can visit Oasis Park Fuerteventura, a wildlife and botanical park just a ten-minute drive from the hotel, ideal for families or nature lovers. You’ll return to the hotel at a leisurely pace in the late afternoon.
Day 5 – Magic Dolphin Excursion
This is one of the most memorable experiences of your stay! In the morning, you’ll head to the port of Morro Jable to board the Magic Dolphin, a modern and comfortable boat specially designed for whale-watching. For around two hours, you’ll sail through the warm waters of the Atlantic to encounter dolphins and whales in their natural habitat, for moments of wonder guaranteed. The trip also includes a stop for a swim in the turquoise waters of Jandía Bay, where you can dive in and enjoy the sea at your own pace. Drinks are served on board to make the experience even more enjoyable. Shuttle buses are available from Costa Calma, making the logistics very straightforward.
