Costa de la Luz —
To the far south of Spain's Iberian Peninsula, a mere 9 miles from Africa, lies the province of Cadiz, famous for its exquisite white sand beaches and long, sunny days. The city of Cadiz is lovingly known as "The Silver Cup" because of its intense sunlight. Basking in both the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, the mild winter temperatures and hot summers make Cadiz a popular spot all year round for sun-seeking tourists.
The Costa de la Luz has some of the most beautiful beaches of Andalusia, as well as some of the best golf courses in Spain. The nearby town of Chiclana de la Frontera is well worth a visit, as it preserves its Andalusian customs and traditions with processions, bullfighting, flamenco dancing, and local wine production. There is also a commercial centre, markets, handicrafts, wine cellars, restaurants, bars, and much more to see and do.
Alternatively, for nature lovers, the area features beaches, pinewoods and salt marshes within the protected area known as the Natural Park of the Bay of Cadiz. Thanks to its long, sandy beaches, the area enjoys high-quality tourism; the pinewoods alongside the coast are the ideal complement to the beaches, and sea and country sit in perfect harmony.
