Barcelona‑Catalunya Grand Prix —
With a length of 2.892 miles, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is known for its thrilling 16 bends and a 1,200‑metre straight that runs alongside the pits and grandstands, where drivers often exceed 192 miles/hr. Over the years, it has hosted legendary driver battles, including Senna vs. Mansell in 1991, Schumacher vs. Hakkinen in 2001, and Hamilton vs. Rosberg in 2016, and it also holds a special place as the launchpad of Fernando Alonso’s F1 career. Last year, Oscar Piastri claimed victory here, with Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc completing the podium, demonstrating the circuit’s mix of speed, skill, and strategy.
Originally constructed in 1991 for the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics cycling events, the Montmeló circuit has become one of Europe’s most iconic tracks. Thanks to its unique mix of straights and turns, it is frequently used for pre‑season testing. In 2026, the race returns as the Barcelona‑Catalunya Grand Prix, scheduled for 12–14 June under the new technical regulations and updated Formula 1 calendar. The field will once again push the limits around this historic track, promising a weekend of speed, precision and renewed ambition on the tarmac.
