Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix —
At 4.657 km with 16 corners and a long main straight over 1 km where cars often exceed 310 km/h, the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya has witnessed some of Formula 1’s most memorable battles: Senna vs Mansell in 1991, Schumacher vs Häkkinen in 2001, Hamilton vs Rosberg in 2016, and the rise of Spanish hero Fernando Alonso.
Built in 1991 to host part of the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics, Montmeló quickly earned a reputation as one of Europe’s finest circuits. Its flowing curves and varied straights make it a favourite for pre‑season testing, honing both cars and drivers for the year ahead.
In 2026, Oscar Piastri returns to Catalunya, fresh off last year’s victory, ready to confirm his status as a championship contender. Lando Norris, his McLaren teammate, will aim to turn the tables and secure a win, promising a fierce intra‑team battle.
Four‑time world champion Max Verstappen will be determined to fight back, while Mercedes and Ferrari look for any opening to seize vital points. The passionate Spanish crowd will focus on Carlos Sainz Jr., eager to see their local star shine and to fuel the festival‑like atmosphere of the Grand Prix.
One thing is certain: thrills, speed and drama will be back in abundance for the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona‑Catalunya.

Costa Brava —
The Costa Brava, stretching along Catalonia’s rugged northeast coast, is a captivating blend of Mediterranean sunshine, golden beaches and cultural treasures. From lively resorts to quiet fishing villages, this sun-kissed coastline offers both relaxation and discovery, framed by dramatic coves, turquoise waters and timeless Catalan charm.
Must-sees:
- Tossa de Mar: A historic coastal town where medieval walls and a hilltop castle rise above sandy beaches.
- Cadaqués: A whitewashed fishing village with winding lanes and a strong artistic heritage, once frequented by Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso.
- Figueres: The cultural capital of the region, home to the world-famous Dalí Theatre-Museum and a lively old town.
- Lloret de Mar: Known for its sweeping beaches, vibrant nightlife and nearby botanical gardens.
- Blanes: The “gateway to the Costa Brava”, celebrated for its seafront promenade and panoramic views from Sant Joan Castle.
Culinary culture:
Costa Brava cuisine highlights the union of land and sea. Savour Suquet de Peix, a traditional fish stew, or Fideuà, a Catalan take on paella made with noodles instead of rice. Local anchovies from L’Escala are prized specialities, best paired with a crisp Empordà white wine. For dessert, crema catalana offers a sweet note with its caramelised top and delicate custard.
Dive deeper:
Explore the coves and hiking trails of the Camí de Ronda, a scenic coastal path once used by fishermen and smugglers. Discover natural beauty at the Cap de Creus Natural Park, where rocky landscapes meet crystal waters. Inland, visit medieval villages such as Pals and Peratallada, where cobbled streets and stone archways evoke another era. Families will love the water parks and gardens, while divers can explore marine reserves teeming with Mediterranean life.
Good to know:
The Costa Brava stretches from Blanes, about 60 km north of Barcelona, to the French border. The best time to visit is during the summer months, when cultural festivals fill the towns, beach clubs and restaurants are in full swing, and the coastline offers its most vibrant atmosphere. Renting a car is ideal to explore hidden coves, hilltop villages and natural parks at your own pace.
