Cala en Bosch —
Cala en Bosch, on Menorca’s sun-drenched southwest coast, is a serene seaside retreat that perfectly captures the island’s laid-back Mediterranean spirit. Centred around its picturesque marina, this resort combines crystal-clear coves, golden beaches and the unhurried pace that defines Menorca. Just a short drive from Ciutadella, it’s the ideal base to enjoy both tranquil coastal living and easy access to the island’s cultural treasures.
Must-sees:
- Cala en Bosch Beach: A crescent of fine white sand and turquoise water, ideal for swimming, paddleboarding or simply basking in the sun.
- Cala Son Xoriguer: A neighbouring bay known for its calm shallows, beach bars and water sports — from kayaking to windsurfing.
- Cala en Bosch Marina: The heart of the resort, lined with restaurants, boutiques and sunset terraces overlooking bobbing boats.
- Ciutadella de Menorca: Just 15 minutes away, this former capital enchants with cobbled streets, Gothic churches and harbourside dining.
Culinary culture:
Cala en Bosch is a haven for Mediterranean flavours and fresh seafood. Try caldereta de langosta, Menorca’s signature lobster stew, or grilled sea bass drizzled with olive oil and lemon. Sample local Mahon cheese, sip a chilled Pomada (Menorcan gin with lemonade), and end with an ensaimada, a soft spiral pastry dusted with sugar. Most marina restaurants offer open-air dining, where you can watch the sunset turn the sea gold.
Dive deeper:
Beyond its beaches, Cala en Bosch invites you to explore Menorca’s wilder side. Sail along the coast to hidden coves accessible only by boat, or follow the Camí de Cavalls, a historic coastal trail that reveals the island’s most breathtaking landscapes. In the evening, enjoy the relaxed marina atmosphere, where street performers and live music accompany leisurely dinners by the water. For a touch of culture, visit nearby Naveta d’Es Tudons, one of Menorca’s oldest archaeological monuments.
