Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix —
At 4.657 km with 16 corners and a long main straight over 1 km where cars often exceed 310 km/h, the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya has witnessed some of Formula 1’s most memorable battles: Senna vs Mansell in 1991, Schumacher vs Häkkinen in 2001, Hamilton vs Rosberg in 2016, and the rise of Spanish hero Fernando Alonso.
Built in 1991 to host part of the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics, Montmeló quickly earned a reputation as one of Europe’s finest circuits. Its flowing curves and varied straights make it a favourite for pre‑season testing, honing both cars and drivers for the year ahead.
In 2026, Oscar Piastri returns to Catalunya, fresh off last year’s victory, ready to confirm his status as a championship contender. Lando Norris, his McLaren teammate, will aim to turn the tables and secure a win, promising a fierce intra‑team battle.
Four‑time world champion Max Verstappen will be determined to fight back, while Mercedes and Ferrari look for any opening to seize vital points. The passionate Spanish crowd will focus on Carlos Sainz Jr., eager to see their local star shine and to fuel the festival‑like atmosphere of the Grand Prix.
One thing is certain: thrills, speed and drama will be back in abundance for the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona‑Catalunya.
