One of the oldest towns in Majorca, Puerto de Alcudia is located in a militarily and commercially strategic place: between two bays, with a clear view of the horizon. It was first inhabited by the Phoenicians; the carefully coloured crystal jewellery is one of the few traces left of this culture. The most important archeological remains found are part of the Roman legacy, Pollèntia the ancient capital of the island.
On the north coast of Mallorca lies the Bay of Alcudia, which boasts clear shallow waters and long white sandy beaches. As the name of Port d'Alcudia suggests, this was once just a port serving an inland town (Alcudia) - now it is a buzzing place with a swish marina where fishing boats mix with luxury yachts and several smart restaurants sit on the dock. Here you can find some of the best beaches in the North of Mallorca. They come in all types, from huge sandy beaches to tranquil hidden coves.
