Teotihuacan, meaning birthplace of the Gods in the Aztec Language of Nahuatl, is an archaeological marvel. Climb to the top of the Pyramid of the sun and gaze out over the Valley of Mexico. Be transported back in time as you walk in the footsteps of the ancient Aztecs down the Avenue of the Dead. The ancient City was once a commercial and Spiritual hub before its mysterious abandonment in 7th or 8th Century, it is now open to the public and is the perfect place to take some photos, admire the ancient structures or buy some souvenirs! The Site is about 40 minutes outside of Mexico City itself so just sit back and relax as you are transferred there and back from your hotel!
The Anthropology Museum in Mexico City is home to hundreds of fascinating Pre-Colombian artefacts from all over Mexico. From the Olmec stone heads of Veracruz to the Mayan Frescoes of the Yucatan Peninsula, the permanent exhibitions are an eye-opening representation of the diversity and craftsmanship of Mexico’s Native American cultures.The Highlight of the Museum is the intact, original Aztec Sunstone, part of the Aztec lake-metropolis of Tenochtitlan which was razed by the Spanish and now resides beneath the Central Zócalo (town square) in Mexico City.
