Day 1: Arrival in Cancun
After landing at Cancun International Airport, our representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel in Cancun. Check in, unwind, and spend the rest of the day at your own pace, whether you choose to relax and enjoy the hotel’s amenities or step out to begin discovering the vibrant sights and sounds of Cancun.
- Transfer from Cancun International Airport to your hotel.
- Overnight in Cancun.
DAY 2: CANCUN → RIO LAGARTOS → CANOTE → VALLADOLID (360 KM – 5 HOURS)
Today’s adventure takes you to the Rio Lagartos Biosphere Reserve on the northern Yucatán coast, home to Mexico’s largest flocks of pink flamingos and nearly 400 bird species. Enjoy a two-hour boat ride through mangroves to spot flamingos, crocodiles, and other wildlife, with stops at feeding areas, a Maya mud bath, and a dip in the salt-rich lagoon. Next, refresh with a swim in a nearby cenote before continuing to your hotel in Valladolid. After check-in, take a guided walking tour of this charming city, where Maya traditions and colonial history come alive in every street.
- Breakfast included.
- Overnight in Valladolid.
DAY 3: VALLADOLID → CHICHEN ITZA → IZAMAL → MERIDA (190 KM – 3 HOURS)
After enjoying breakfast, set out for Chichen Itza, one of the most remarkable archaeological sites of the Maya civilization. Wander through this ancient city, reclaimed from the jungle, and learn about its history and the ingenuity of its builders. Marvel at the Temple of Kukulkan, also known as El Castillo, designed as both a representation of the Maya calendar and a stunning optical illusion of a serpent descending the pyramid during the equinoxes. Explore the Great Ball Court, the haunting Skull Platform, and the Sacred Cenote, where ancient rituals once took place. Don’t miss other well-preserved areas, including the Temple of the Warriors, the Ossuary, the Nunnery and its adjacent church, and the large observatory called the Snail.
Next, continue to the picturesque Maya town of Izamal, where layers of pre-Hispanic, colonial, and modern history coexist. Visit the Convent of St. Anthony of Padua, impressively built atop a former Maya pyramid, and feel the unique blend of cultures as you stroll through the town. In the afternoon, make your way to Merida, the "White City" and capital of Yucatán. Discover its elegant historic center on a guided tour, including the grand 19th-century villas along Paseo de Montejo, the vibrant Plaza Grande with its cathedral and Casa de los Montejo, as well as the Government Palace and City Hall. Enjoy some free time to explore Mérida at your own pace before settling in at your hotel.
- Breakfast included.
- Overnight in Mérida.
Day 4: Merida → Uxmal → Cocoa Museum → Uxmal
After breakfast at the hotel, set out to explore the ruins of another remarkable Maya city, reclaimed from the jungle. Arrive at Uxmal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that rises dramatically above the forest canopy, and enjoy a guided tour of its extraordinary structures. Unlike many other Maya cities, Uxmal was overtaken by the rainforest after the arrival of the Spaniards, preserving much of its mystery. Admire the iconic Pyramid of the Magician, soaring 35 meters above the Nunnery Quadrangle, with its intricately carved walls both inside and out. Across the central plaza, beyond the ballgame court, stands the Governor’s Palace, while at the southern edge of the main complex lies the Great Pyramid, only partially excavated, with much of its structure still hidden beneath the vegetation. Conclude the morning with a visit to a Cocoa Museum, where you’ll learn about the plant’s significance and its vital role in ancient Maya culture.
- Breakfast included.
- Overnight stay in Uxmal.
DAY 5: UXMAL → CANCUN → PLAYA DEL CARMEN
In the morning, transfer to Mérida Teya Station to board the Maya Train and settle into a modern, air-conditioned carriage for your journey toward Cancun Airport. As you travel in comfort, enjoy scenic views of the Yucatán Peninsula, from lush jungles and sparkling cenotes to charming traditional villages. This smooth and relaxing ride offers a stress-free way to conclude your trip while experiencing one of the region’s most innovative transportation projects. Upon arrival, you'll continue your journey with a relaxing beach stay in Playa del Carmen.
- Breakfast included.
- Shared transfer from Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen included.
