Your Destination —
La Plagne, with a dizzying collection of 10 separate villages - each with its own character and infrastructure - and 140 miles of slopes - has an unusually high number of blue and red runs, giving the average skier an enviable range of possibilities.
The superb ski area joins neighbouring Les Arcs between Montchavin-Coches and Peisey Vallandry to form the huge Paradiski domain with 425kms of runs , linked by one of the the world’s largest cable cars, the Vanoise Express, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. At 3250m, the Bellecôte glacier is the highest lift served location in the resort. The aptly named village of Belle Plagne is built in chalet style and is the most scenic village. Plagne Soleil, Centre and Village are ideally situated in a sunny bowl and offer great piste access. Après-ski activities include tobogganing, bobsleigh, ice climbing, airboarding and spending the night in an igloo. But for a laid-back après-ski full of delicious drinks or a warming Alpine delicacies, Plagne Centre is the place to go.
As La Plagne is so extensive, it is the perfect location for a ski holiday, catering for all levels of skier, while families are very well catered for too. Most of the areas have excellent ski schools and nursery runs for children and beginners.
There are more benefits to this massive ski area, too - offering a wide variety of activities, from Skidoos to France's only bobsleigh run via the ice rink. Swimming pool, bowling, paragliding and seven-cube and a 900m long snow park, totally dedicated to freestyle, is available.
Skiing in La Plagne —
A good number of beginners areas; and is a good progression from greens to blues and blues to reds.
Intermediates skiing
Absolute heaven with 80% of the runs being blues and reds. Runs are generally quite long with fantastic opportunities to ski the glacier, as well as the slalom course and through the trees, for example down the Mont Blanc blue, a gorgeous, long, well maintained piste running all the way down to the Vanoise Express.
Advanced skiing -
Advanced skiing is very good here, particularly off the Roche de Mio. Black runs are regularly mogulled and quite challenging, and there are some great off-piste opportunities.
Snowboarding
5 snow parks and a number of half-pipes, all for different abilities.
You may add ski lessons, 6 day lift passes, ski/boot rental, snowboard/boot rental or tuition at the next stage of the booking process for an additional fee.
Please note that ski passes and skiing equipment can be found in the nearby shopping complex.
