Luxor & The Nile River
Discover Egypt's historic capital!
Frequently referred to as 'the world's greatest open-air museum', Luxor offers its visitors the opportunity to travel back in time to the life of ancient Egyptians in what was then the great city of Thebes. Each year, thousands of tourists travel to this destination, which is located just opposite the world-famous River Nile, to unearth the treasures of the Karnak and Luxor complexes, in addition to the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens.
In addition to the endless attractions keen historians will discover here, Luxor also offers plenty of perks for those in search of the sunshine. As one of the sunniest and driest cities in the world, Luxor is an excellent option for tourists who want to combine the best aspects of a cultural break with relaxed days around a pool or an iconic cruise down the long and winding Nile.
Located on both banks of the Nile, Luxor is home to a splendid heritage inherited from centuries of history. On the eastern bank, you will marvel at the grandeur of the Karnak temple and its hypostyle hall. This construction is one of the most incredible in Upper Egypt. Only a few steps separate this Egyptian marvel from the Luxor Mummification Museum, which will not fail to impress you. Sail to the West Bank and head to the necropolises of Thebes. In the Valley of the Kings, you will be speechless at the beauty of the coloured walls, covered with sacred texts that ensured the kings a serene passage to eternity. Not far from there is the temple of Medinet Habu which will reveal all its splendour when, at the end of the afternoon, the shadows lengthen.
