Day 3: Memphis & Saqqara
Memphis was the capital of ancient Egypt and an important centre of history. Situated approximately 24 km south of Cairo, it is home to the necropolises of Memphis, including Saqqara with the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser. This is considered to be the oldest pyramid in Egypt and represents a milestone in the history of architecture. The pyramid was designed by Imhotep, the first known architect in history. Saqqara is the country’s largest archaeological site and is home to numerous other pyramids, tombs and temples. (Duration: 2.5 hours, transfer, admission and guide included)
Day 5: Abu Simble by bus
Located in southern Egypt, near Sudan, Abu Simbel is one of the greatest treasures of antiquity. Its monumental temples, carved into the rock in honour of Ramses II, bear witness to the architectural genius and beliefs of the time. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, the site is also famous for the remarkable feat of its relocation to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
Hot air balloon over Luxor
Make your stay in Luxor unforgettable by experiencing the joy of a hot-air balloon ride. Float peacefully above the west bank of Luxor, where you can see most of the monuments of Thebes.
Take advantage of this unique opportunity to admire the magnificent panorama of Luxor from an exceptional vantage point, for a memorable view of Luxor and the River Nile.
You’ll set off from your hotel and cross the Nile to reach the west bank before sunrise, where your hot-air balloon will be waiting for you. After a safety briefing and an introduction to the ground crew and the pilot, you’ll climb into the basket and get ready for take-off.
