Nicknamed the "Galloping Glacier," this east Alaskan glacier is rapidly advancing toward the Gulf of Alaska into a pristine area known as Disenchantment Bay. This impressive sight measures 76miles long and plunges 1,200 feet into the depths of the bay, its immense beauty & phenomenal blue hues are quite simply, enchanting.
Nestled in the shadow of the impressive Mt Edgecumbe, each part of this excellently located town looks out onto a different panorama: from the beautiful ragged silhouettes of Sound's islands to the snow capped mountains of the East. And the town itself is a testament to its Russian heritage.
Alaska's southern port of Ketchikan, known as Alaska's “First City” is best seen on foot. Shop in Tom Sawyers gift store or relax in the picturesque Thomas Basin with its small boat marina. Interesting shops line the shores of Ketchikan Creek and follow the Creek to the Totem Heritage Centre where you will find a huge collection of authentic totem poles.
Known as the ‘City of Gardens', Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Stroll round the Inner Harbour or visit the tropical paradise of the Crystal Garden. The world-famous Butchart Gardens are well worth a visit and shopping is a must in Government Street where the late Victorian era is preserved in bookstores and tea merchants.
