Ortaca is situated in the heart of Muğla province, directly on the bright turquoise Mediterranean Sea, and is a typical Turkish town with a lot of charm. With fine sandy beaches and the crystal clear waters within easy reach (the famous beach Sarigerme is just 20 minutes away), Ortaca is an excellent starting point for discovering Turkey and its coastline.
The cluster of towns scattered along this stretch of coast has been affectionately named the Turkish Riviera. Visitors are encouraged to stop by Fethiye, a historic town with a promenade along the waterfront, lined with cafes and restaurants overlooking the beautiful natural harbour. Once part of the ancient Lycia, tourists can discover ancient ruins and many historic sites such as the incredible Tomb of Amyntas that sits in the limestone cliffs.
A visit to the award-winning beach of Ölüdeniz is a must. This incredible beach is surrounded by towering mountains looking over the pristine waters, and to the north side, there is a protected lagoon. Just south, you will find Butterfly Valley that is accessible by a boat day trip to see the variety of butterfly species that dwell here. Travel inwards to the Saklıkent Canyon, a national park where the canyon reaches 300 metres deep and squeezes to just 2 metres wide at some points.
