Bodrum is located in the western corner of Muğla province. It is situated on its namesake peninsula,which is bordered by the Aegean sea to the north, west, and south. Bodrum was called Halikarnassos in ancient times. In Turkish it is referred to as Halikarnas. Bodrum features three large marinas and a cruise ship port. Milta marina is the oldest and is located in the center of Bodrum. The second oldest is D Marin and is located in Turgutreis. The newest marina is Palmarina in Yalıkavak.

Bodrum is a thriving centre with shops, markets, fantastic restaurants, busy bars and a buzzing nightlife. A trip to Bodrum  includes the main sightseeing attractions of 15th centuryBodrum Kalesi (Bodrum Castle)  and The Ancient Amphitheatre, estimated to be approximately 2000 years old. Bodrum harbour itself is a fabulous stop for lunch, where you can watch the world go by as the boats come and go.
