Day at the ancient thermal baths of Pamukkale —
This excursion will introduce you to the Taurus Mountains, small villages, fertile highlands and arid mountain landscapes. Near the provincial capital of Denizli, you can already see from afar the white slopes of the famous limestone terraces of Pamukkale (in English: Cotton castle). You will have time to explore the terraces at your own pace and relax your feet in the healing waters, the beneficial effects of which the Romans already appreciated in their time. The Roman thermal bath (temperature around 36 degrees Celsius) is still used today and invites you to bathe between ancient columns and marble blocks.
The visit of the Roman theater and the necropolis (the dead city) of the ancient city of Hierapolis, will allow you to touch the ancient world. At its peak, the city had a population of up to 25,000. She gained greater fame thanks to Phillippus, who let Emperor Friedrich (Barabarossa) stop here during his crusade to pray. In this traditional region, craftsmanship is still very important today. On the way back, you will visit a carpet factory, where you will learn the traditional art of carpet making.
