Safari
![](https://images5.bovpg.net/r/back/uk/media/1/6/0/1/3/601390.jpg)
Head out on a safari in a 4x4 and discover the region's incredible wildlife.
- Safaris take place in 4×4 vehicles, which generally accommodate 4 people (except for transfers from the airstrip, where there may be up to 6 people)
- The safaris are not limited to a specific time, but are adapted to the wishes of the clients.
- Safaris can take place in the morning, afternoon or all day. Departure times for excursions can usually be arranged to suit your preferences.
- The full-day safari usually takes place in the Beho Beho area, with a packed lunch. The vegetation in this area is different from that in the Manze region, with more open plains. In the afternoon, you can stop off at the Maji Moto hot springs. There are three pools: very hot, hot and not so hot. If you wish, you can bathe in the lowest pool - or in the middle pool.
Boat safari
![](https://images1.bovpg.net/r/back/uk/media/1/6/0/1/3/601395.jpg)
Choose from a boat safari on Lake Manze, or along a canal that runs from the lake to the Rufiji River (although it is too far to reach the river itself).
Whatever you choose, expect to see hippos, crocodiles and many species of bird. Some birds, such as osprey, are more likely to be seen on the lake; others, such as white-fronted bee-eaters, are more numerous on the canal.
- Boat safaris last just over two hours and can be arranged in the morning or afternoon.
- Early morning offers the charm of morning light (unless it's cloudy), but you're likely to see more crocodiles once the day warms up and they come out to bask in the sun.
- A popular option is an early morning walk at 6.30am followed by a boat safari at 10am.
- Afternoon boat safaris offer the chance to watch a magnificent sunset over Manze.
Safari on foot
![](https://images3.bovpg.net/r/back/uk/media/1/6/0/1/3/601398.jpg)
A walk in the company of an armed ranger and an informative guide is a rewarding experience and an excellent way to get up close to the beauty of the Selous.
- Walking safaris can be arranged in the early morning or late afternoon.
- Early morning is generally the coolest time of the day.
- Walkers depart after a cup of tea/coffee and have breakfast on their return to camp. The walk generally lasts around 2 hours and can cover up to 3 km in the vicinity of the camp.
- This is not a walk designed to cover long distances, but a gentle stroll, with stops to observe things of interest.
Please note: With walking safaris you get to see the animals's tracks and walk through the surrounding landscape, whereas you get closer to the animals when you chose a safari in a vehicle.
Please also note: Children aged 15 and under are not permitted on walking safaris in the Selous.

Zanzibar caters for every traveller, whether that be those looking to backpack on a budget, or those interested in enjoying a luxurious and exotic 5* getaway.
In terms of attractions, Zanzibar is as varied as it is beautiful, ensuring guests in search of diversity are constantly surprised. Stone Town should be number 1 on any tourist's bucket-list. Charismatic, full of life and rich in history and culture, the quaint, cobbled streets of Stone Town are a delight to explore and offer up no end of treats, including the relaxed seafront promenade, the faded colonial buildings, the colourful food markets and unique touches such as the Aldabra giant tortoises at Prison Island (a short 30-minute boat ride from Stone Town itself).
