Selous Game Reserve

This must be the largest unspoilt game reserve in Africa. Immense, remote and wild, no human habitation is allowed within its boundaries, apart from within camps and lodges. Today it boasts some of Africa’s finest virgin bush, unchanged through centuries and inhabited by three quarters of a million wild animals.

The river systems and gorges are fascinating, as are the swamps, woodlands and savannahs, all home to hippo, crocodile, elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, giraffe, waterbuck, baboon, leopards, lion, wild dog, eland, sable and roan, to mention just a few of the species. The bird-life is also extremely rich. The reality is that this park is so vast it is impossible to count its game.

Zanzibar

The island of Zanzibar is an extraordinarily beautiful place from the naturalistic point of view and was, for centuries, a crossroads for international trade between Eastern Africa, the Indian Ocean, China and Europe. This has turned the island into a place where different cultures cohabit harmonically.

Situated on the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins which can be a very rewarding experience.

Your Itinerary —

Day 1: Fly into Dar es Salaam airport with Emirates, from here you will be transferred to your hotel.

Overnight at Dar Serena Hotel with breakfast included.


Day 2: After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to the Selous.  Upon arrival, you are met by the camp’s vehicle and transferred to the camp.  Lunch and afternoon shared activity – game drive, walking safari or boat ride on the Rufiji River. Return to the camp for dinner.

Overnight at Selous Serena Luxury Camp with lunch & dinner included.


Day 3: Today you will have a choice of morning and afternoon shared activities as provided by the camp  – game drives, walking safari or boat ride on the Rufiji River.

Day 4: After breakfast you will be transferred to Steiglers Airstrip for a scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, you will be met by a driver who will transfer you to Blue Bay Beach Resort for your 4 or 7 night stay.

Overnight at Blue Bay Resort with breakfast & lunch or dinner included.


Day 8 or 11: Transfer to Zanzibar airport for your flight to Dar es Salaam where you will catch a connecting flight back home.

Please note: Internal flights from Dar es Salaam to Selous, Selous to Zanzibar & Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam have a 15kg per person restriction for luggage allowance.  This is regardless of the luggage allowance you are permitted for your international flights.  Luggage must be packed in soft sided bags.  Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in.  Another seat may need to be purchased to cover the additional baggage (which will provide an additional 80kg allowance).  The cost of this is approximately $400 USD for the return journey.  Please note that there is no guarantee that the airline will have the additional space/seats to accommodate extra luggage so to avoid any disruption to your holiday/flight, we strongly recommend that you adhere to the 15kg per person restriction.

Travel Documents —

You will receive an email confirming your booking within the next 48 hours.

Please check all details on this confirmation are correct. If there are any discrepancies, please notify us as soon as possible.

The airline is ticketless and therefore, you will not receive any hard copy documents. You will however, receive an email from us detailing your flight information and reference number to enable you to manage your booking online via the airline website.

You will also receive an accommodation voucher for presentation at the hotel reception at point of check in.
If you have booked transfers, Meet & Greet, car hire or airport lounges, you will receive a separate voucher for each of these services.

Please note that transfer vouchers are sent directly from the transfer supplier.
Please do make sure that you either add Voyage Privé to your Safe Senders list or check your Junk mail regularly for your travel documents.

We will send all documents out as early as possible (subject to full payment being received) but you should receive all your documentation at least 10 days prior to departure.

Important Information —

Passengers should bring only soft sided bags on safaris.

All the passengers must have Identification Card/Passport with them for internal flights.

Baggage on internal flights is strictly limited to 15kgs per person (including hand luggage). Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in.

Passengers arriving to Tanzania may be asked to present a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.
