A most amazing sighting at Sinharaja is the dazzling colours and shocking contrasts as the large mixed flocks of feeding birds’ flit through the forest. This lowland forest is considered to be one of the best birding sites in Sri Lanka with 22 out of Sri Lanka's 26 endemic birds having been sighted here, and large mixed feeding flocks providing an unusual spectacle.

This popular tourist destination is also known for its ancient paintings (frescoes) reminiscent of the Ajanta caves in India. It is one of Sri Lanka's seven World Heritage Sites. It has also been declared the eighth wonder of the world by UNESCO.
Note: If you want to climb to the top, it will take you about 2-3 hours.
En route visit the Ayurvedic village of Matale. In early history, Sri Lanka, known as Taprobane, was world famous for its unique and high quality spices (please note: the spices can be purchased locally, but you don't have to buy them).
Afterwards, experience a tuk-tuk tour of the city of Kandy. Nestled in green hills, criss-crossed by the Mahaweli River and with the beautiful Kandy Lake as its centrepiece, Kandy is certainly the most picturesque city on the island and the most visited. It still retains much of its charm and ancient traditions, handicrafts and typical Sri Lankan way of life. After sightseeing, meet your guide. Visit the centre for batik and wood carving. Note: We recommend that you wear modest clothing when visiting the temple. Flowers for offering can be purchased along the way to the temple. Proper attire is mandatory for the visit. You may take your camera; shoes must be removed at the temple entrance and safe storage facilities are available.
