This popular tourist destination is also known for its ancient paintings (frescoes) reminiscent of the Ajanta caves in India. It is one of Sri Lanka's seven World Heritage Sites. It has also been declared the eighth wonder of the world by UNESCO.
Note: If you want to climb to the top, it will take you about 2-3 hours.
En route visit the Ayurvedic village of Matale. In early history, Sri Lanka, known as Taprobane, was world famous for its unique and high quality spices (please note: the spices can be purchased locally, but you don't have to buy them).
Afterwards, experience a tuk-tuk tour of the city of Kandy. Nestled in green hills, criss-crossed by the Mahaweli River and with the beautiful Kandy Lake as its centrepiece, Kandy is certainly the most picturesque city on the island and the most visited. It still retains much of its charm and ancient traditions, handicrafts and typical Sri Lankan way of life. After sightseeing, meet your guide. Visit the centre for batik and wood carving. Get an insight into the local handicraft and art or gemstones.

Note: We recommend that you wear modest clothing when visiting the temple. Flowers for offering can be purchased along the way to the temple. Proper attire is mandatory for the visit. You may take your camera; shoes must be removed at the temple entrance and safe storage facilities are available.

Maldives
Widely famed as one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, the Maldives attracts travellers looking for true peace and quiet. Of the 2,000 islands that make up the country, only 200 are inhabited, making them a hotspot for luxury resorts with beautiful villas overlooking the azure Indian Ocean.
Its capital city, Malé, is a densely populated island at the heart of the country’s 26 atolls, though most visitors will spend their time on one of the country’s resort islands. Here, you can experience true relaxation, waking up to tranquil sea views and spending your days on the soft, white-sand beaches or diving in stunning reefs. Indeed, the Maldives have an amazing diversity of sea life, with corals and over 2000 species of fish, ranging from reef fish and reef sharks to moray eels, rays and whale sharks.
Sri Lanka
With 8 Unesco World Heritage Sites to be found on such a small area of land and a 2,000 year old culture, Sri Lanka is as fascinating as it is beautiful. A destination that is often skipped by many a traveller on their trips to India or Asia, Sri Lanka remains one of the Indo-Asian best kept secrets. Visit its ancient sites and marvel over its legendary temples, or see the sacred home of the world’s oldest living tree, Anuradhapura.
Take a tour in one of Sri Lanka’s national parks to encounter elephants, leopards, water buffaloes, and exotic birds, or spend the day relaxing on the dazzlingly white, often untrodden, beaches. Try your hand at a little surfing or retreat up into the Sri Lankan hills to experience a more temperate climate and the lavish greenery of the tea plantations. In addition, you can even trek through the rainforests with an experienced guide or just take in the breathtaking vistas on a spectacular train ride. With fabulously flavoursome food and a vast array of culturally rich experiences to delve into, Sri Lanka promises to be one of your best-loved travel destinations, where the charm of the people will simply enchant you.
