Situated in the central Limpopo province just a 3 hour drive from Johannesburg, the malaria-free Waterberg Biosphere is a scenic and wildlife-rich area. The impressive Waterberg Mountain Range stretches across the Reserve, creating a natural diversity with endless views of the plains. There is a wide variety of flora and fauna, a chance to see the Big Five and over 40 special of game including the highly endangered Sable antelope.
Marataba Safari Lodge is in a 23,000 hectare private area at the foothills of the Waterberg Mountains and forms part of the Marakele National Park in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. The Marakele National Park is a haven for an impressive variety of wildlife, thanks to its location in the transitional zone between the dry western and wetter eastern regions of South Africa.
Madikwe Game Reserve is one of South Africa's largest and malaria-free sanctuaries, boasting a rich biodiversity of mammals such as Africa's Big Five, cheetah, wild dog, brown and spotted hyena, oryx, eland, springbok and ostrich.
Experience excellent birdwatching with over 350 bird species, diverse geology and broad mix of habitats. Enjoy all of this and more while taking in the sweeping views over the game-filled plains. This is an all-year-round safari destination where the variation in experience is influenced by the seasonal temperature.
Your Itinerary —
Day 1-3: VIP Meet & Greet OR Tambo International Airport
Welcome to Johannesburg! You will be met at the door of your aircraft with your name on a paging board and assisted through immigration, baggage collection and customs. You will then be shown to your awaiting transfer vehicle.
Activities include morning and afternoon/evening game drives in Waterberg Biosphere.
3 nights in Marataba Safari Company in a Tented Suite
Day 4-6
Road transfer to Madikwe Safari Lodge (approximately 2 hrs). Activities include morning and afternoon game drives and bush walks in Madikwe Game Reserve.
