The observatory is the hotel's main feature. OTHe telescope, a GPS and computer-controlled 14”MEADE LX200, allows for direct dark sky observation and thus the observation of billions of stars, constellations and far-distant galaxies. Next to the observatory, there is an area for amateur astronomers and astrology lovers to set up their own equipment.
The location of the Alentejo Star Hotel-São Domingos lends itself to all sorts of activities and experiences to do with nature and the great outdoors. In the heart of the Alentejo countryside – think cycling, mountain biking, hiking and off-road trips; the hotel is right by the Guadiana River and the river beach, great for water sports like kayaking and canoeing!
