Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Meet your driver upon arrival in Marrakech and transfer to your first hotel.
Dinner and an overnight at Riad Laora or similar
Today’s tour takes you to the El Bahia Palace and tombs of the Saadian princes, then on to Dar El Basha Quarter with its traditional Moroccan restaurants. Peruse the wares of the Qassabine and Smarine souks (markets) and explore the ancient, former slave market of Rhaba Kedima Square, where locals buy ingredients ranging from bark to chameleons to use in their magic potions.
Free time at the huge, lively square at the heart of Marrakech, Jemaa-el-fna is one of the city's main attractions. By day or by night, the square is filled with wandering salesmen, musicians, dancers, and snake charmers attracting the attention of a cosmopolitan crowd, who come to experience the lively and colourful real Marrakech. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant during the day.

Journey north to Morocco’s largest city, Casablanca, a modern metropolis with a distinctively European feel. Wander around the League of Arab States Park, a verdant area dotted with palm trees, before continuing to the Notre Dame de Lourdes Church with its exquisite stained-glass windows. Passing the busy shopping area of the Habous Quarter, arrive at the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, home to the world’s tallest minaret, whose exterior and interior decoration are highly impressive and is a symbol of pride to the Moroccan people. Enjoy lunch served at a local restaurant before checking into your hotel.

After breakfast, travel to Rabat for a morning tour of Morocco’s colourful capital city. Rabat is one of the big surprises of Morocco. It is a big city, but shows unique authenticity, with numerous monuments and fantastic places to visit. Visit the Hassan Tower, a 12th-century minaret built from distinctive red sandstone, then explore the nearby mausoleum of Mohammed V with its mahogany domes and intricate gold leaf decorations.
Continue onward to another UNESCO World Heritage Site treasure, the preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis, and discover ancient pillars and intricately laid mosaics. Delve deeper into Morocco’s historical fabric on a visit to Meknes, the settlement of Sultan Moulay Ismail who founded this imperial city for his harem of 500 wives and 12,000 horses. View the Sultan’s resting place then journey to Fez for your overnight stay.

This enchanting city, set against a backdrop of the lush Zalagh mountain range, is acknowledged to be the most important in Morocco where old and new thrive side by side. Numerous civilisations have settled in Fes, leaving a legacy of palaces, mosques and museums filled with precious treasures. Begin your full-day city tour at the ancient medina of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the architecturally rich Andalucian Quarter.
Traverse some of the 9,000 streets of this maze-like district, passing the city’s oldest mosques and religious schools. This includes the 1,200 year-old Al Kairouyine which claims to be the oldest university in the world as well as the grandiose El Bouanania Medersa, famed for its glittering emerald green tile roof. The spiritual capital is alive with traditional crafts and famous for its tanneries with their brightly coloured dyes and pigments, providing a fascinating insight into the sights and smells of a craft that has remained practically unchanged for centuries. Return to the hotel.

Bid farewell to Fes this morning and journey past shimmering lakes and dense cedar forests on a spectacularly scenic drive. You will pass forests that are home to the endangered Barbary Apes and journey through the small town of Azrou. Arrive in Beni Mellal, tucked away in the Middle Atlas Mountains, in time for lunch at Chez Fatima. Afterwards, depart for Marrakech and check into your hotel upon arrival.
We recommend that you spend the evening at the world-famous Djemaa El Fnaa Square and witness the esplanade transform from a day market to an immense show of dancers, musicians and other entertainers.

On this day of leisure, experience the hustle and bustle of life in Marrakech during this walking tour of the city. Explore the labyrinth of narrow alleyways making up the colourful and bustling souks of Marrakech. Breathe in the aroma of the herbs and spices; see the copper and bronze artists at work, visit the forged ironmongers, and pottery souk.
Head to the Berber apothecary for a display of magic potions, spices and a refreshing mint tea, the traditional baker’s oven, and finally visit the souks.
The evening with incorporate a final dinner served in a traditional Moroccan Restaurant, Palais Chahramane, where guests can enjoy live shows from belly dancers.
