Set off in the morning to discover Fez, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco, by car and on foot with your guide. The city, founded in the 9th century, is the oldest of the imperial capitals and boasts the most complete medieval city in the Arab world. Explore the ancient city walls and gates and then take a walk through the medina, a maze of narrow streets where horses and donkeys take precedence and where you can witness traditional crafts. You will also visit the 14th-century Al-Attarine Madrasa, a school for the study of the Qur'an known for its elegant courtyard and intricate mosaics. The royal palace is still used by the king of Morocco when he is in the city of Fez. A visit to Fez is not complete without a visit to the tanneries, perhaps one of the city's most iconic sights. Lunch is included at an atypical Moroccan Fasi restaurant.
