This pre-Hispanic city is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was once the revered centre of worship and pilgrimage in the Yucatán Peninsula. Day 4 - 5
Day 4 - Mérida - Uxmal: You will meet your guide at the archaeological site of Uxmal, who will tell you more about these impressive pyramids. The name Uxmal means "three times built" in Mayan. This name refers to the construction of its highest structure: the Pyramid of the Magician, which was built on top of existing pyramids. The legend has it that the Pyramid of the Magician was built in a single night. This is highly unlikely, as it is made up of several structures from different periods, perhaps only the last and smallest at the top was built in one night and then became a legend.
This city is renowned for its architecture and decorative arts. It is perhaps the most representative city of the Puuc style, with low, horizontal palaces built around courtyards. The decoration is incredible, as one can appreciate the quality of the pre-Hispanic art, with detailed carvings made of polished stones that form a perfect mosaic. At its peak, Uxmal was home to some 20,000 Maya.
Overnight stay in Uxmal.
Travel time: Merida - Uxmal: 1h10.
Day 5 - Uxmal - Bacalar: Today, take the road to Bacalar and discover its famous seven-coloured lagoon. Bacalar is an ancient Mayan city, whose name means "near or surrounded by reeds". It is now a pueblo magico (magic town), but it never ceases to amaze thanks to its unmissable "Lagoon of the Seven Colours". This name was given to it in reference to the seven cenotes spread along the Bacalar lagoon (43 km) and which is the origin of a phenomenon worthy of an optical illusion: sea beds of different depths that allow the surface of the water to appear like an aquatic mosaic made up of countless shades of blue. This natural labyrinth can be explored during various water activities such as kayaking, snorkelling or scuba diving.
The city invites you to discover the local history and culture. And you will have the opportunity to experience the Caribbean. Take in the tranquillity as you walk along the shores of the lagoon. Go for a refreshing dip in a nearby cenote and taste the local seafood!

Day 7 - Bacalar - Tulum: Return to the Caribbean coast by driving to the Bohemian town of Tulum, an ancient Mayan walled city that has been deemed as the "Pueblo Mágico" (Magic City) thanks to its beautiful reflection of the Mayan culture.
Today, it is one of the most popular jewels of the Mexican Caribbean, with its 10 kilometres of white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and Mayan archaeological areas on the beachfront. During the day, the warm climate invites you to relax and laze on the beach, but also to enjoy sports and water activities like snorkelling, diving or simply swimming in the sea or in the cenotes of the region. Once night arrives, Tulum comes alive and becomes a festive and joyful place, with many bars, restaurants and nightclubs available.
