DAY 2 : CANCUN - RIO LAGARTOS - VALLADOLID

Your rental car will be delivered to your hotel so you can hit the road to explore Yucatan. Discover Rio Lagarto, a small fishing village that sits at the gateway to the Rio Lagartos National Park Reserve and is a true paradise for nature lovers. About 100km to the south, reach the colonial town of Valladolid with its rich history and charming streets.

DAY 3 : VALLADOLID - CHICHEN ITZA - IZAMAL - MERIDA

Leave Valladolid to discover the marvellous site of Chichen Itza, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988 and considered one of the "new wonders of the world". Admire the majesty of the site and the echoes of its past glory. Continue on to Izamal, a charming colonial "pueblo mágico", and visit the Franciscan convent of San Antonio de Padua, where the atrium is as large as the Vatican! You can also climb the Kinich Pyramid for a great view of this yellow city. Drive back to Merida to spend the night.

Enjoy a free day to explore Mérida, the bustling capital of the state of Yucatán. This city has a rich Mayan and colonial heritage. Discover the Plaza de la Independencia, bordered by the fortress-like Mérida Cathedral and the white limestone Church of the Third Order, two colonial-era churches built from the remains of ancient Mayan temples.

DAY 5 : MERIDA - UXMAL - SOUTA DE PEON

Drive to Uxmal, an important place on the "Puuc route", featuring typical architecture such as the Quadrilateral of the Nuns and the Governor's Palace. Stop by Sotuta de Peon as you continue your drive. 

Dinner and overnight stay at Sotuta de Peon Hacienda Viva Village Resort (or similar).

DAY 6 : SOUTA DE PEON - CAMPECHE

Today, head to Campeche, a coastal city with a rich heritage. Explore its fortified historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before strolling through colourful streets to immerse yourself in the pleasant atmosphere.

DAY 7 : CAMPECHE - LAGUNA DE TERMINOS - CHETUMAL

Take the road to the impressive Laguna de Termino. Located entirely on the Gulf of Mexico, it is the largest tidal lagoon in volume and one of the richest in biodiversity. Next, head to Chetumal, the capital of the state of Quintana Roo, nestled in the extreme south of the Yucatán Peninsula. Relax in this pretty city bathed by the Caribbean Sea.

As you return to Cancun airport, pause in Bacalar, famous for its seven-coloured lagoon, a Caribbean gem close to the Belize border. If you have time, explore the archaeological site of Tulum, one of the jewels of the Riviera Maya and the only known Mayan port, which saw the arrival of the first conquistadors a few centuries ago.

After returning your rental car, take your flight back home (7 nights offer), or take advantage of a private transfer to your hotel on the Riviera Maya in order to continue your stay in style (10, 12 or 14 nights offer).
