Malé
Malé, the capital of the Maldives, is a bustling, vibrant city located on a small island surrounded by turquoise waters. - Hukuru Miskiy (Old Friday Mosque): A stunning example of traditional Maldivian architecture, this 17th-century mosque is made of coral stone and features intricate carvings and beautiful wooden doors.

Culinary culture:
Malé’s cuisine reflects the diverse cultural influences that have shaped the Maldives, with a focus on fresh seafood, coconut, and locally grown spices. Try Mas Huni, a traditional Maldivian breakfast dish made with tuna, coconut, and flatbread. Garudhiya, a fish soup served with rice, lime, and chilli, is another local favourite. For those with a sweet tooth, indulge in Fihunu Mas, grilled fish served with a spicy marinade, or try Kukulhu Riha, a Maldivian chicken curry. Pair your meal with freshly squeezed coconut water, or enjoy a cup of traditional Maldivian tea.
Dive deeper:
Beyond Malé’s cultural and culinary delights, there is plenty more to explore in this captivating capital. Take a boat trip to nearby local islands to experience the traditional Maldivian way of life, or visit Villimale Island, just a short ferry ride away, for beautiful beaches and a quieter atmosphere. The Maldives is also famous for its world-class dive sites, with nearby reefs and atolls offering the chance to see vibrant coral, tropical fish, and even manta rays and whale sharks.
Good to know:
Malé experiences a tropical climate with warm temperatures and sunshine throughout the year. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from November to April when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities. While the city itself is relatively small, it provides a fascinating glimpse into the culture, history, and daily life of the Maldives, making it an excellent starting point for a Maldivian adventure.
Dubai
Dubai, a city of striking contrasts, harmonises cutting-edge modernity with echoes of its humble beginnings along Dubai Creek. Beneath its glitz lies a story of resilience and transformation.

Meanwhile, its multicultural population has fostered an array of global cuisines. For an authentic taste, visit a local souk to sample shawarma or freshly grilled seafood.
Dive deeper:
For an enriching contrast to Dubai’s urban glamour, explore the historic Dubai Creek, where traditional abras (water taxis) ferry visitors across the water. Visit the Gold Souk and Spice Souk to glimpse the city’s trading roots, or take a guided desert safari to learn about Bedouin traditions and stargaze under a clear Arabian sky.
Good to know:
The UAE dirham is the local currency, and the ideal time to visit is from November to March for pleasant weather. Public transport is efficient, though taxis are a popular and convenient choice. Modesty in dress is appreciated in cultural and historical areas, aligning with local customs.
