Situated to the East and looking out over the Bali Sea, Candidasa is a seaside town, resting against a fresh water lagoon. Highlights include the village of Tenganan, which before 1970 was known by anthropologists to be one of the most secluded societies of the archipelago. The historic Water Palace of Tirtagangga and Tulamben is also nearby.
Located in a far more central region of the island, the area of Plaga is more countrified, laid back and highly traditional in its architecture, with Bali's tallest bridge, (Bangkung Bridge) acting as an ideal cultural stop-off. For those wanting adventure, Nunung Waterfall is also close by and is well worth a visit!
