These are some of the features of this tour, which takes you to Iceland’s best-known sites and also to some of the most isolated but exotic regions on the South coast. The route takes you through lava fields and fertile regions, with views of volcanoes including the famous Eyjafjallajökull, and visits to glaciers, waterfalls and hot springs.

Day 1: Welcome to Iceland!
Arrival at Keflavik Airport. Pick-up of rented vehicle and drive to Reykjavik for your first night’s stay in Iceland.  Depending on your arrival time, we recommend that you make a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon on the way and have a swim in the geothermal warm water (entrances not included)

Night in Reykjavik at Reykjavik Lights 3* or similar
Driving distance approx. 50 km

Day 2: South Coast and Reykjavik
Enjoy the scenery of the South Coast of Iceland. On the way you will pass two spectacular waterfalls the Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss, two stops you must not miss. You can walk behind Seljalandsfoss and at Skógar you will find a folk museum showing how people lived in past centuries in Iceland (entrances non-included) The black sand beaches of the south coast are famous and you can take a walk on them in the little village of Vík or in Reynishverfi. You can go swimming in one of Iceland´s oldest swimming pool, the Seljavallarlaug, a naturally-heated thermal pool located in a beautiful hidden valley.

Day 3: Icebergs and Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon
Today you will visit one of the most popular and beautiful sights of Iceland. Enjoy the breathtaking sights of the Skaftafell National Park, an oasis surrounded by glaciers and black sand with many hiking possibilities and at the spectacular Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon. Enormous icebergs drift on the the lagoon and you can take a 30-40 min boat trip around them (activities non-included). Drive back to Kirkjubæjarklaustur area for a second night.

Day 4: Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir area 
Today it is time to visit some of the most interesting and famous areas of Iceland: the famous geothermal area of Geysir where the Strokkur hot spring ejects its water column high into the air every 5-10 minutes and where numerous small springs boil and bubble. After this you only have a short drive to reach Gullfoss, surely the country’s most famous waterfall. If you wish you can continue to Lake Laugarvatn for a nice thermal bath at Laugarvatn Fontana spa, composed of a series of interconnected baths and steam rooms that complement each other to create a healthy, natural and unique spa experience (entrances non-included).

Day 5: Thingvellir National Park, Blue Lagoon and exciting Reykjavik 
You can start by a drive to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the geological wonders of the world where you can see the effects of the tectonic plate movements which have opened various cracks and fissures in the earth’s crust. Take time to walk around in the unique landscape of Thingvellir. Now you can either take some time to relax in Reykjavik or drive to the famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing swim, if you did not stop at the Blue Lagoon on day one (approx. 120 km round trip – entrances non-included and prebooking is necessary)

You can start by a drive to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the geological wonders of the world where you can see the effects of the tectonic plate movements which have opened various cracks and fissures in the earth’s crust. You continue to the famous Geysir Area where the Strokkur hot spring ejects its water column high into the air every 5 – 10 minutes and where numerous small springs are boil and bubble.  Afterwards you only have a short drive to reach Gullfoss, surely one of the country’s most beautiful waterfalls. Drive along the south coast to Skógar/ Vík area for your overnight stay.

Day 4: Waterfalls and black sands
Today you will spend the day along the south coast. This gives you a chance to take a closer look at attractions that you did not have the time to visit on your way east: Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and Skógarfoss which you can walk behind. At Skógar you will find a folk museum showing how people lived in the past in Iceland (entrances non-included). If you have time in the afternoon, you can go to the Dyrhólaey bird cliff where you can usually see puffins. (Please note: Dyrholaey is closed from May 15 till June 23 and from mid- August the puffins will have gone to sea!). The black sand beaches of the south coast are famous and you can take a walk on them in the little village of Vík or in Reynishverfi. Drive back and overnight stay in Reykjavik.

Car Hire

Age Requirements and Driving License The minimum driver's age for car rentals in Iceland is 20 years . The driver must present a valid driver's license held for a minimum of one year at the time of rental. An International Driving Permit (IDP) / International Driving License (IDL) is also required if your national driver's license is not in Roman script. This is recommended for translation purposes and may only be used in conjunction with a national driving license.

Additional Driver / Operator The person named on the reservation must be the main driver, who must be present at time of rental and the payer of any rental charges. Our packages include two authorized drivers at no extra cost.

Additional fees An Airport Service Charge applying to all rentals with pick-up and drop-off at Keflavik International Airport is included in the price. All drop off fee´s due to one way rentals are paid on location. All rates are subject to a Government tax (VAT) at the rate of 25.5%, which is included in the price.  Petrol is not included. The rental car will normally have a full tank of fuel and the car should be refilled before returning it. 

 All rates are based on a rental period of 24 consecutive hours meaning from the date and time of the pick-up of the car. If a rental exceeds the 24 hour period an extra day will be charged: 80EUR for the month of march and april 2018 and 98EUR for the month of mai 2018.

Please note that individual travel insurance is not included in the tour price and all medical costs and other costs involved must be paid by the client. It is therefore strongly recommended that participants take out personal insurance.We strongly recommend to all clients to purchase comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure to meet any contingencies.

A credit card in the main driver's name is required for renting the vehicle as a guarantee. Cash and/or debit card deposits will not be accepted. The credit card imprint may be used to pay all extra charges, including extra driven kilometers, extra insurance, parking fines, damages or any costs due to the car rental company as a result of the hire's use of the car. Acceptable credit cards are: American Express, MasterCard and Visa. At the time of rental, an authorization is obtained on your credit card (amount around 800 EUR). This amount is not blocked neither debited from the credit card.

We reserve the right to alter routes, itineraries without prior notice should this be necessary due to weather conditions or other important circumstances. 

Your Contract

If you book a package which includes flights, your contract will be with Voyage Privé. The air holiday package(s) shown are ATOL protected by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is 10170.

If you book a package which does not include flights, then ATOL protection does not apply. Your contract will be with the provider of the accommodation and not Voyage Privé. Voyage Privé acts only as agent for the accommodation provider.

You will receive an email confirming your booking within the next 48 hours.
Please check all details on this confirmation are correct.  If there are any discrepancies, please notify us as soon as possible.

The airline is ticketless and therefore, you will not receive any hard copy documents.  You will however, receive an email from us detailing your flight information and reference number to enable you to manage your booking online via the airline website.

You will also receive an accommodation voucher for presentation at the hotel reception at point of check-in.

Please do make sure that you either add Voyage Privé to your Safe Senders list or check your Junk mail regularly for your travel documents.

We will send all documents out as early as possible (subject to full payment being received) but you should receive all your documentation at least 10 days prior to departure.
