This island is the largest and greenest in the Sporades region with lush pine-covered mountains sweeping down to sheltered beaches and coves. It is simply beautiful and traditionally Greek, one of the reasons why it was chosen as a location for the recent movie 'Mamma Mia'.
The main town and harbour of Skopelos brims with picturesque white churches and white Pelion slate-roofed houses, cascading down the hillside from the ruins of the Venetian castle above. The old town is a maze of quaint cobbled streets and steps, with a church on virtually every corner – there are 125 in the town alone.
The bustling harbour front is very cosmopolitan with cafes, bars and tavernas and a large selection of restaurants invite you to taste the traditional cuisine and local fish and produce.
Situated on the hilltop above Stafilos Bay, Michaels Country Cottage is conveniently located within walking distance of beaches and tavernas. The driveway from the cottage leads to the main road down to the beaches of Stafilos and Velanio - about a 10 minute walk downhill.
A small path starting behind the cottage leads to the bus stop on the main road to Skopelos Town. Skopelos town is approximately 4km away and can be reached by foot in around 50 minutes along the old Stafilos road.

The villa decor is simple and charming with open-beamed ceilings, wood floors and original stone features. The outdoor terraces, surrounded by cypress trees, offer ample spaces to relax, whilst the oval-shaped, private swimming pool is the perfect place to refresh after a day in the sizzling heat.

The small kitchen/dining room is reached by a separate entrance and has a lovely, light feel to it. The small kitchenette is equipped for simple holiday meals and still has the original bread oven.
The built-in BBQ/outdoor kitchen is set next to the main house which is surrounded by cypress trees through which there is a convenient path leading to the main Stafilos road.
There are two restaurants nearby and a small mini market approximately 20 minutes walk away.
