The town is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, lined with vibrant bougainvillea. Its buildings date back to the 16th century, and there are plenty of Byzantine and Hellenic-Roman remains too, and a small Venetian harbour. Popular attractions include the Fortezza (the Venetian fort), the Loggia, the Fountain Rimondi and the Church of St. Francis.
