Chora, the capital of the island, is 4km from your hotel. It is a labyrinth of winding narrow streets, whitewashed houses framed by trailing bougainvillea and beautiful churches and squares. It is easy to wander about in the quieter mornings, when traffic is forbidden, and you can take your time exploring the souvenir shops and tavernas.
The famous whitewashed windmills, the trademark of the island, stand on a hill overlooking the city, from where one can enjoy a magnificent view over Little Venice - home to numerous trendy cafes and bars.
