Mykonos Island boasts beautiful landscapes, picturesque white painted villages, hundreds of little churches, windmills and some of the most extraordinary golden sandy beaches in the Cyclades.
There are many attractions for the culturally thirsty to see on and around Mykonos. Some of the most impressive sites to visit are the Archaeological Museum of Mykonos, Aegean Maritime Museum, Folklore Museum, picturesque windmills and Panagia Paraportiani Church at Kastro.
Visitors should not leave Mykonos without taking a walk through the beautiful maze-like streets of Mykonos Town and the lovely Alefkandra of Mykonos also known as Little Venice, home to many artists and one of the most photographed places in Europe.
In Ano Mera, it is worthwhile exploring the Monastery of Panagia Tourlianis, as well as the Castle. In Platis Gialos, travellers should visit the well of Giannaros and the three Hellenistic Towers.
Lastly the island of Delos is a short boat ride away which is an historical jewel of ancient Greece - the entire island has been declared a museum by the Greek government.
