Your Itinerary in Detail —
Day 1 : Arrive in Rovaniemi
Touch down in Rovaniemi Airport ready for your Nordic adventure! An agency representative will be waiting to help you collect your equipment for the duration of your stay, before taking you to your cosy accommodation. Hotel Aakenus is just 400m from the centre of Rovaniemi, and Santasport Hotel is less than 2km from the centre. Get settled and enjoy an evening at your leisure.
DAY 2 : REINDEER FARM VISIT AND SLEIGH RIDE
Enjoy a tasty buffet breakfast before collection from your hotel and a 30 minute drive to meet the local reindeer herders. Learn about their fascinating culture and daily life, and take the opportunity to feed the friendly reindeers! Leave the farm in a comfortable wooden sled, snuggled up in warm blankets. You will be certified with a reindeer sled driving license.
Return to the farm to get warm in a traditional Lapp hut, tuck into drinks and biscuits, and listen to the herder's stories about the area and traditions.
Lunch at leisure and dinner in the hotel.
Day 3 : Free day in Rovaniemi
Today is free to explore as you please and discover pretty Rovaniemi and its surroundings. You could :
- Visit the Arktikum museum to learn about Nordic culture
- Stop by the ski resort
- Visit Santa's village for some shopping (reachable by bus)
- Take part in an additional activity : a husky sled ride, a frozen Koroui or Korouoma waterfalls visit, or an evening sauna under the Northern Lights

DAY 4 : SNOWMOBILE SAFARI
Get ready for an exciting adventure out on the snowmobiles! Receive a briefing on snowmobile safety, and then discover the beauty of Lapland's landscape at speed! Zip through the forests and lakes of the Arctic Circle, and pause for hot drinks and cookies before returning to base.

Day 5 : Snowshoeing and Ice Fishing
Explore more of Rovaniemi's spell-binding scenery on a hike to a secluded fishing destination, and if the snow is deep enough try out your snowshoes in true Arctic style! Reach the lake and break through thick, chunky ice with the help of your guide, and wait for fish whilst you enjoy the fresh Finnish air and spectacular surroundings. Next, gather round the barbecue for a toasty campfire in the snow with sausages, Lappish salmon, and your very own fish (if you caught one!)

DAY 6 : NORTHERN LIGHTS HUNT
Enjoy a final free day to explore, or opt for an extra activitiy during the day. As night falls, venture out to look for the magical Northern Lights in one of the best spots to see them in the whole world. Head out with your guide away from the city, and gaze up at an unspoiled sky full of stars. Enjoy traditional Lappish barbecue with hot blueberry tea, and learn about the Northern Lights from your knowledgeable guide.
DAY 7 : DEPART
Pack up your belongings and head to the airport after breakfast, ready for your flight home after a wonderful week of adventures.

Rovaniemi is the capital city of Lapland in northern Finland, and is known as the 'official hometown of Santa Claus'. Home to Santa Claus Village, a year-round Christmas-themed attraction, this is heaven on earth for festive fanatics. Breathe in the purest air in Europe and dive into a country where 70% of the territory is covered with forest areas - this is a true escape from the everyday.
Thanks to the city’s proximity to the Arctic Circle (just 6km away), the city is the perfect place for a magical wintry escape. Catch the incredible spectacle of the Northern Lights, and explore the Arctic Circle Hiking Area, a diverse trail network where you can admire rapids and aapa mires, a complex landscape of wetlands.
Besides the Christmas festivities, Rovaniemi is also a great springboard from which to explore the Ranua Wildlife Park and the Arkitikum Science Museum. While you might have a spectacular winter break in mind, the summer is the time to experience the unique spectacle of the Midnight Sun - between the 6th June-7th July, the sun never falls below the horizon, meaning even more time for activities like horse riding, hiking, and jet skiing!
