Besides the Christmas festivities, Rovaniemi is also a great springboard from which to explore the Ranua Wildlife Park and the Arkitikum Science Museum.

During their tour, our members will follow one of the two itineraries as seen below depending on the offer they choose.
4-night Arctic Circle Outback
Day 1: Arrival in Rovaniemi
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your accommodation. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure, allowing you to discover Rovaniemi freely. There are plenty of fun-filled activities that you may be able to organise locally including visits to a reindeer farm, dog sledding, visiting a traditional Lappish tepee called “kota” or just exploring the the incredible landscapes of this winter wonderland. Dinner at your own leisure. Overnight at the Arctic Circle Wilderness Lodge or similar.
Day 2: Arctic Circle Outback - Depart for Ranua (110-150 km)
This morning, you will make preparations for your Arctic Circle Outback expedition. You will be provided with thermal snowmobiling outfits (trousers, jacket, woolen socks, boots, scarf, commando hat and gloves), in addition to driving equipment and a waterproof bag for your personal supplies needed during the tour. The rest of your luggage will be kept in Rovaniemi. To start the adventure, you will have a safety brief and driving instructions before departing into the wilderness.
Enjoy a full day snowmobiling south of Rovaniemi towards the Ranua area. you will get to stop for lunch along the way before continuing your journey in the afternoon. Upon arrival in Ranua, you will get the option to visit the Wildlife Park which can be organised locally. This unique Wildlife Park is the northernmost in Finland and allows you to see polar bears, as well as 50 different other arctic animal species in the midst of northern woods. Following this, enjoy time to relax in your cabin or hotel, making the most of the soothing sauna and a delicious 3-course dinner. Overnight in local cabins or hotel.
After breakfast in your accommodation, you will spend the full day snowmobiling through the Arctic Circle. From Rauna, proceed to Vanttauskoski and then onto Vaattunki, passing by superb views of the awe-inspiring nature along the way. Stop for lunch en route then in the afternoon, you will arrive at the local cabin accommodation for some time to relax. Here, you'll get to relax in the sauna and a delicious 3-course dinner. Overnight in local cabin accommodation.
Day 4: Arctic Circle Outback - Return to Rovaniemi (50 km)
Following breakfast in your cabins, you will spend this final few hours snowmobiling back towards Rovaniemi for the finale of the safari. Back in the main town, you will be awarded with the Great Adventure Certificate from you local guide and then will spend the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy Rovaniemi. Some of our suggestions for this time include visiting Santa Claus Village or seeing the Arktikum Science Museum. With a plethora of excursions and activities on offer, this winter wonderland is sure to excite! Overnight at the Arctic Circle Wilderness Lodge or similar.
Day 5: Departure from Rovaniemi
This morning, you will have free time until your transfer back to the airport for your return flight back to the UK.
6-night Tour of Lapland
Day 1: Arrival in Rovaniemi
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your accommodation. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure, allowing you to discover Rovaniemi freely. There are plenty of fun-filled activities that you may be able to organise locally including visits to a reindeer farm, dog sledding, visiting a traditional Lappish tepee called “kota” or just exploring the the incredible landscapes of this winter wonderland. Dinner at your own leisure. Overnight at the Arctic Circle Wilderness Lodge or similar.
Day 2: Tour of Lapland - Depart for Ylläs (150 km)
This morning, you will make preparations for your Tour of Lapland expedition. You will be provided with thermal snowmobiling outfits (trousers, jacket, woolen socks, boots, scarf, commando hat and gloves), in addition to driving equipment and a waterproof bag for your personal supplies needed during the tour. The rest of your luggage will be kept in Rovaniemi.
To start the adventure, you will have a safety brief and driving instructions before departing into the wilderness. Take to the snow and start your full day snowmobiling from Rovaniemi to Ylläs, going on easy going trails, with a stop for lunch on the way. Ylläs is a winter wonderland with Finland’s longest ski slopes and an excellent network of cross-country trails for skiing. Comprising of two separate ski resorts, you may have the chance to hit the slopes during your time here. In the afternoon you will arrive and head to your local hotel accommodation, giving you time to relax in the sauna and enjoy a delicious 3-course dinner.
After breakfast in your accommodation, you will spend the full day snowmobiling towards Levi. In the midst of an unspoiled Arctic wonderland, lies the magical Lappish resort of Levi. Renowned as Finland's largest ski resort, it offers 43 ski slopes, 230km of cross-country skiing paths, kids slopes and an extensive Snow Park. Off the slopes, apres-ski activities include husky, reindeer and snowmobile safaris, and a chance to see the magical Northern Lights. On the way to Levi, you stop in Olos village for lunch. Upon arrival into o Levi Ski Resort, check in to the local accommodation and enjoy free time for relaxing or exploring. Stop by the sauna and indulge on a delicious 3-course dinner. Overnight in local accommodation.
Day 4: Tour of Lapland - Levi to Luosto (120 km)
After breakfast in your accommodation, you will spend the full day snowmobiling towards Luosto. Along the way, you will get to marvel at the great landscapes passing by Kumputunturi fjell and Kaaristunturi. Lunch will be enjoyed on the way in Sodankylä village, and then in the afternoon, you will arrive into Luosto. Offering more pistes to explore, this spectacular location is cloaked in forested parkland and an abundance of snow-dusted landscapes. During your free time, try out the downhill or cross-country ski routes, race down the toboggan slope, or take a sleigh ride. Check in to the local accommodation and enjoy free time for relaxing or exploring, stopping by the sauna and indulging in a delicious 3-course dinner. Overnight in local accommodation.
Day 5: Tour of Lapland - Luosto to Suomu (100 km)
Following breakfast, you will spend the full day snowmobiling to Suomu, passing by amazing scenery in the Pyhätunturi area on the way. Enjoy lunch en route and then there will be an afternoon arrival to Suomu. Suomu is another alpine ski resort, offering a peaceful atmosphere and spectacular surroundings. Check into the local accommodation and enjoy a moment to relax in the sauna and delight in a delicious 3-course dinner.
Following breakfast in your cabins, you will enjoy your last day snowmobiling. Pass by awe-inspiring scenery and enjoy lunch on the way in the city of Kemijärv. In the afternoon you will return back to Rovaniemi for the finale of the safari. Back in the main town, you will be awarded with the Great Adventure Certificate from you local guide and then will spend the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy Rovaniemi. Please note: The local suppler reserves the right to make alterations to the departure times, programs, duration or form of transportation without warning. This is also applied to changes in programs due to weather and trail conditions or participants physical state. Snowmobile and husky safaris are not suitable for pregnant women due to vibrations as a result of uneven tracks and the presence of exhaust fumes of the snowmobiles.
Your Tour Hotels —
Our members will stay at the following accommodation during their stay.
1-night pre expedition & 1-night post expedition stay at the Arctic Circle Wilderness Lodge (or similar)
2 or 4-night stay in a hotels or cabins on expeditions
Please note: If any of these hotels are not available, hotels of a similar standard will be found. On the overnight train, children will share the compartment with their parents. They will also have to share one of the parents’ berth which is about 1 metre wide.
Your Journey to Finland —
Flights: You may choose from Economy, Premium or Business class flights on sectors that they operate, at the next stage of the booking process.
The flights included are with either a scheduled or no-frills airline and are subject to live availability and prices can change. You can choose your preferred departure times during the booking process. Please select your flight options carefully as departure and arrival airports may differ.
Transfers: Return transfers from Rovaniemi airport are included on both offers.
For inbound transfer arrangements please confirm with your transfer provider when you arrive. Alternatively, please check with the reception of your accommodation. If you still require assistance, please call the transfer provider directly.
Snowmobiling Terms and Conditions: the driver of a snowmobile must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid A or B driver’s license(i.e. car or motorbike). The driving license must be valid in EU countries. Customers shall bring their valid driving license or a copy of such driving license for participating in snowmobiling.
The snowmobile driver is held liable for any damages caused to the snowmobile. The customer is held self-liable for a fixed amount of 900€ per person in case of accident.
If a customer suffers from illness or disabilities (such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, back or hip problems) that could affect his/her ability to take part in the activities or that she is pregnant, he/she shall prior to participating in the activities consult medical experts as to his/her suitability to participate in the activities. The customer shall acknowledge that he/she participate in the activities to be offered in the service at his/her own risk in the case that he/she suffers from such illness or disability or pregnancy.
