Excursions —
Sound & Light Show at Karnak Temple (Included)
This open-air attraction highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes and narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As you walk through the complex of temples, pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell you about the birth of Karnak Temple and the heroic achievements of pharaohs and the God Amon.
Abu Simbel (Optional and at an additional fee)
Accompanied by an Egyptologist guide, drive to western Lake Nasser, and see the colossal, rock statues of Ramses II at the two lakeside temples. Hear about their history, and go inside these towering statues and view the pillars and murals. Saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser when the Aswan High Dam was constructed, the two 65-foot figures of Pharaoh Ramses II sit on a throne facing the rising sun. If time allows before your return to Aswan, go to the visitor centre and see how both the temples were relocated, piece by piece, in 1968 to save them from flooding. Our excursion includes return transport from your cruise boat or hotel with a packed breakfast box.
