Setting off at dawn, this trip beats the heat and avoids the crowds. Whisking travellers off the usual route to My Son, this half day tour starts at sunrise, passing through lush rice paddies and the Thu Bon River delta region. A stop at a rural market introduces the bustling morning rituals of country life. Upon reaching the ancient Champa Kingdom capital of My Son, guests enjoy a continental breakfast and take a silent stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage Site at a time when few others visit.
In this celebrated historic vestige, the story of impressive ruins is brought to life by a well-informed guide. In the background, Champa music plays as a traditional dance performance begins. The return journey is equally insightful, traversing small country lanes and pretty hamlets.
Hue is reknown for its historic monuments, which have earned it a place as a Unesco World Heritage Site. The seat of the Nguyen emperors was the Citadel, which occupies a large, walled area on the north side of the Perfume River. Inside the citadel was a forbidden city where only the emperors, concubines, and those close enough to them were granted access.
Head out west along the banks of the Thu Bon River, first stopping at a bustling local fish market before heading into the rice paddy rich countryside and local villages, stopping to meet a local family producing the local rice crackers. Take a break for some local food while surrounded by seasonal vegetables in the picturesque fields of corn, aubergine, sweet potato, cucumbers and herbs.
As the sun starts to go down, set off through the rice paddies, passing duck farms, visit a local mat weaving family and then ride along by the prawn farms and over the river to visit a charming family home where they produce the local & potent favourite brew - rice wine. It’s then a short ride over the Cam Kim Bridge into Hoi An as the sun begins to set on this beautiful heritage town.
Go for an adventure in a retro soviet-style sidecar and experience a once-in-a-lifetime escapade with photographic opportunities, unique to Central Vietnam. The journey begins at the doorstep of your accommodation. You’re driven out of town, into the picturesque rice paddies to experience everyday countryside living, stopping for a ride on a water buffalo – a truly unique Vietnamese experience which locals are often spotted doing!
Continuing on our journey we make our way through Tra Que organic vegetable gardens, traditional graveyards, markets and the villages of Hoi An. We end our trip by driving along the banks of the Thu Bon River and finish at our starting point or at the beach.
