Your Destinations —
Pulsing out of the sands like some crazy neon mirage, Las Vegas is globally synonymous with gambling, rock-star luxury and a 24-hour excess that has become a brand in its own right. Nowhere throws a 365-day party quite like Vegas and those marketing taglines for ‘the world’s entertainment capital’ aren’t far off the truth. For a town stuck on its own at the southern tip of Nevada, it gives one hell of a decadent bang for its buck.
Experience the world’s most iconic structures in miniature when you walk the Strip, from the Pyramids of Egypt at Luxor, or the Statue of Liberty at New York, New York; to the beautiful Eiffel Tower at Paris and the romantic canals at the Venetian you can explore the world in a couple of hours.
Whether staying in San Francisco for a few hours or a few days, travellers will surely fall with this quaint yet bustling metropolitan city. Whether visitors are looking for a haunting look at historic Alcatraz, or the best margarita outside of Mexico, San Francisco has a treat for everyone.
Some highlights include:
Pier 39
A few blocks east of Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 is a waterfront building that was constructed on top of an abandoned cargo pier in the fashion of early 20th century architecture. Tourists can walk along the docks and witness hundreds of seals bathing in the San Francisco sunlight year-round. The salt-infused air in this cosmopolitan town has yielded some of the best variations of sourdough breads in the world, and whether it's a bright sunny day or pouring rain, tourists have to try a bread bowl with tomato soup or clam chowder at Boudin Bakery. Through a 30-foot observation window, guests at the restaurant can catch a glimpse of artisan bakers meticulously shaping baguettes, batards and loaves before sitting down to enjoy an amazing meal.
North Beach
Passengers on a Princess cruise can revisit their hippie days in North Beach, which was once a haven for beat poets such as Allen Ginsberg. Today this Italian neighborhood attracts young poets and musicians to cool nightclubs and bars. Unlike the usual tourist destinations in San Francisco, North Beach is still loved by locals because of its colorful history and entertaining nightlife. For a morning thirst quencher, visitors should go to the Caffe Trieste, which is where the likes of Jack Kerouac and Ginsberg hung out in the 1950s.
It's easy to see why Hawaii has become synonymous with paradise - you only need to take one look at the pristine white beaches, colourful coral reefs and crashing surf, and you have yourself the perfect sunsoaked holiday destination.
But these amazing islands are far more than just sun and sand. From soaring mountains to plunging waterfalls and abundant flora and fauna, it's clear to see why Hawaiian's have such a deep and revered respect for the natural world.
On this fantastic trip you will discover Honolulu, Kahului and Hilo - the gateway to the Volcanoes National Park. The park is a natural wonderland and site of the vast Kilauea Crater, the world's most active volcano and home of the Hawaiian fire goddess Pele.
