Florida is, of course, Miami, a modern and glamorous city with its Art Deco district of multicoloured facades, trendy shops and vibrant nightlife. Home to exiles from the Cuban regime, since the 1960s the city has had a multicultural, Latino flavour that has become its trademark.
But no trip to Florida would be complete without a trip to Everglades National Park. As majestic as it is mysterious, it is home to exceptional wildlife, including the famous crocodiles and alligators, which you can see up close on an airboat tour.
For a tropical getaway, head for the islands of the Keys, between the Atlantic and Mexico. Linked by bridges, they are a favourite playground for water sports enthusiasts. If it's not paradise, it sure looks like it.
Miami
Warmly referred to as the 'Magic City', thanks to its constant innovation and evolution, Miami is a buzzing metropolis on Florida's Southeast coast. Having welcomed a record-breaking 140 million visitors in 2023 alone, Miami promises its guests a unique immersion into a spectacular beach city environment, where Cuban influences can be seen across the cuisine, drinks and vibrant nightlife.
In terms of attractions, Miami is full to the brim with thrilling highlights. World-famous as the place to 'see and be seen', Miami's South Beach offers everything from celebrity-chef restaurants to the iconic 'Instagram-worthy' coloured lifeguard towers, the ever-animated Ocean Drive and some of the best shopping-opportunities across the USA.
Miami is also increasingly popular with lovers of culture and treasures such as The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens are well worth a visit for those who can bear to tear themselves away from the fashionable coastline. Offering a spectacular array of art-focused and historical museums, including the beloved Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Miami is a diverse holiday destination that promises excitement for tourists of every description.
Orlando
Orlando is located in the centre of sunny Florida and home to over a dozen theme parks, world-famous restaurants, high-end shopping centres, theatrical performances and sporting events. The most famous of its theme parks is Walt Disney World which spans a total of 25,600 acres and includes two water parks, more than 140 restaurants, a couple dozen on-site Disney hotels and endless shows, shops, characters, rides and attractions.
More than its theme parks, the city has many attractions that fits visitors of all ages and varying interests. Golf lovers can challenge themselves on historic courses throughout the city and art lovers can enjoy the Orlando Museum of Art, the Mennello Museum of American Art as well as a number of small galleries sprinkled in the area.
Orlando also has several parks and lakes that are wonderful for relaxing or even exercising. For a stunning view of the city, the glass capsule ICON Orlando observation wheel on International Drive is the perfect place to go.
