Situated in the north of England, York is a fabulous destination with historic architecture and an authentic Yorkshire charm. Perhaps the most famous landmark in the city is the York Minster, a striking 13th-century Gothic Cathedral. The city is also home to the National Railway Museum which showcases Britain's trains throughout history.

 

Families can uncover the area's unique history at the Jorvik Viking Centre, or, take a trip to the former prisons and royal mint of Clifford's Tower. Those looking for local shops and cafes should head to the Shambles, an award-winning street with independent stores and a charming market.
