The area is also famed for its amazing food, with a plethora of choices from traditional cream teas to Michelin-starred fine dining.

1 Park Road 4* —

This charming bolthole offers all the comforts of a private home stay with the added luxury of an indulgent hotel. 

The cosy decor blends modern and traditional, featuring original tiled floors in the hall, the original stained glass windows on the landing and the original staircase. This is interspersed with modern luxuries such as iPod docking stations and White Company toiletries in the bedrooms.

Breakfast is a food lover's dream and offers a wide range of choice, from stewed rhubarb or plums with syrup, vanilla and cinnamon, to award-winning sausages and free range eggs from nearby Bannerigg Farm (so local you can almost hear the hens!).

After a day out walking or sightseeing, settle down in the lounge with a glass of wine or one of 1 Park Road's continental beers, and a slab of home-made cake and lose yourself in a good book.

Enjoy a full English breakfast each morning at 1 Park Road.  As an independently run bed & breakfast property, there is no restaurant on site. At the weekend, there is also a selection of homemade pies and platters to enjoy. The hotel not only has a fine selection of wines but unusually, they also have a selection of various local beers as well as Belgium beers.

Cedar Manor
A short walk from 1 Park Road, book a table to dine at Cedar Manor and you will each enjoy a glass of Prosecco. Cedar Manor has two AA Rosettes given in recognition of their consistent quality, seasonality and locally sourced products.  Their chef,  Roger Pergyl-Wilson, offers a modern British cuisine with a menu that ranges from succulent lamb to beef, game and the freshest of fish and seafood- a menu that changes with the seasons.

Directions to your hotel by car: The nearest motorway junction is junction 36 of the M6. From this junction, the hotel is about 30 minutes away. After you leave the M6, you’ll travel along a dual carriageway for about 20 minutes. At the roundabout, stay on the A591 and ignore any instruction your Sat Nav may say to turn left along a B road.
