The Wye Valley
A designated Area of Natural Beauty that boasts no end of spectacular scenery, peaceful riverside pathways and quiet wooded glades. The Valley is also home to any number of picture-postcard villages and historic market towns.
Hay-on-the-Wye (9 miles)
A fantastic day out for the dedicated literary buff, this charming town sits on the border, just north of the Black Mountains. Playing host to a prestigious annual literary festival (May-June), the town sees hoardes of industry experts, royalty, and tourists descend on it each year. Out of season, it is still a wonderful place to visit, with plenty of tea shops, pubs, and of course book shops to explore.
Brecon Beacons (18 miles)
Situated between south and mid-Wales the Brecon Beacons National Park plays host to some of the most dramatic and distinctive landscapes in the UK.Its six main peaks dominate the skyline, the highest of which is Pen y Fan at 886m.
Hiking and mountain biking are course popular, as well as the lesser known star gazing - the area has become only the fifth destination in the world to be granted International Dark Sky Reserve status. You can view the stars with the hotel's telescope.

Formerly owned by Sir Bernard Ashley, husband of the world-renowned fabric designer Laura Ashley, Llangoed Hall’s walls are adorned with an inspiring collection of original art, from the likes of James McNeil Whistler, Herman Dudley Murphy and Augustus John.
The 17 acres of grounds encompass beautiful rose gardens, a maze , a greenhouse, vegetable plot and smokery, and is home to chickens, ducks and quail. Much of the award winning restaurant's food is sourced from the hotel’s very own kitchen garden.
