Woodlands Park Hotel —
To stay at the Woodlands Park Hotel in Cobham Surrey near Leatherhead is to enjoy a blend of modern luxury with the traditional features of this historic country house. Built in 1885, the house remains as impressive as ever. Guests will enjoy benefits such as an oversized flat screen TV and fine quality traditional furnishings. Each room is different but all are finished to the highest possible standard.
The country house was originally commissioned by the English Industrialist William Bryant, son of the founder of the match company Bryant and May. His brief to the architect was simple; he wanted a home designed with free hand, unfettered in the slightest degree by economical consideration. At the time, the house was a modern marvel and one of the first in the UK to have electric light. Over a century on, the house remains as impressive as ever. The hotel was once a favourite retreat for Oscar Wilde, the actress Lillie Langtry and the Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VII.
