Sharrow Bay —

The 17 bedrooms at Sharrow Bay are elegant and traditional. Whether you are staying in the Main House, the Garden Wing or in the peaceful seclusion of the Edwardian Lodge, it is impossible to not fall in love with the charm and character of these individually decorated rooms. Relaxing pastel shades, pretty floral designs and beautiful antiques create the most magical ‘home-away-from-home’ feeling. 

Beside the house is a private jetty and boathouse and there are 12 acres of gardens and woodlands with half a mile of lakeshore where guests may wander at leisure.

No two rooms are alike which makes for a charmingly idiosyncratic interior, especially as they remain very much in the spirit of the original house – with antique furniture and collections amassed at Country House Sales and local auctions. Deluxe Rooms can be found in the main building & the garden, each one has dramatic views of said garden or of the lake.

Your Time

The gardens at Sharrow Bay are nestled beneath Barton Fell in twelve acres of private grounds with half a mile of lake frontage. Running from the hotel parallel to the shore of the lake, the main ornamental garden is essentially one dramatic vista framed by magnificent yew hedges. The hotels gardens are wonderful in themselves, however the views from them across Ullswater are simply stunning.
